DNA update

We just got word that the Droid DNA update we talked about a few days ago is now rolling out over the air, ready to sneak into your phone and fix some bugs. The 104MB update brings the DNA to software version 2.04.605.2 710RD, and has quite the change log:

  • User can load videos on HuluPlus
  • Improvements to Hotspot connectivity have been made
  • Improvements to Audio Quality for wired headsets and earpieces have been made
  • Bluetooth connectivity and volume level for specific models have been improved
  • Enhanced reliability and stability of the Contacts List have been made
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity has been improved
  • Improvements to default browser for zooming capability have been made
  • Incoming messages display with the correct timestamp
  • Enhanced Recent Apps functionality has been improved

It's worth mentioning that rooted users will want to hold off and suss it all out before they click the OK button. If you've received the update, holler in the comments to let everyone know how it's working out for you.

Downloading now!

Biac1982 says:

Download went smoothly here in Downey, CA. Tested the phone with my Bluetooth hands-free speakerphone in my vehicle and it finally works as its supposed to! So far, so good.

Install went smoothly, took roughly 5 minutes to download (over wifi) and install. The only issue I experienced that was addressed was the wifi connectivity. We'll see if it's been improved.

tcmeiss says:

Did you just have trouble connecting in general, or problems once you were connected? I had issues with it staying on the WiFi, but not getting any data for some reason.

kevin5377 says:

Never had problems with connecting or getting data, only staying connected. It would bounce randomly. It would be connected, then lose connection, then reconnect. Btw, this update did not correct the issue for me.

Improved nothing that I can see.

If I wasn't using a custom ROM.

When I try to update all I get is this message, 'HtcDm isn' responding. Do you want to wait? ' Any body else getting this?

Amazingly fast after the update!!! It was really fast to begin with, but now it's ridiculously fast. Everything else will show with time.

I had some apps that were slow to load that are much faster now. Beats audio seems to be more robust. Slacker radio no longer cuts out but that could be due to the Slacker update as well.

Stock, unlocked bootloader and root. What will this update do to those things? I like my root for CallBlocker and a few other things. Don't want to lose. THANKS.

Went into store to check out DNA audio quality with Beat David Guetta edition. IT SUCKED compared to my iPhone, but I hate my iPhone and want an Android device again! Someone please give feedback on audio quality after this update!

You need to listen to one after the update, it was a big improvement. Be sure to use the same buds with both phone to be fair.

Rovio needs to fox their app to work on the phone, I sent them few emails when the phone came out and they said they had a DNA on order but yea, doesn't seem like anything ever came of it.

If you already had it downloaded, you can see that the force close bug on the first level no longer exists. Rovio just has to make it available again.

So far I don't really see any difference except one, my battery life seems to have improved.

The update is terrible for me. I have a HTC Thunderbolt. Takes forever to open anything, and when trying to hit the back button, it won't go back. Have to hit the home button. I can't even open my text messages because I only get a "Please Wait" message with a circle going round and round. I updated mine around 8:30 this morning, it's now almost 12:00 and still no better. Sucking my battery... it's terrible for me :-( I was really looking forward to it, hoping it would fix my problem of receiving texts from I-Phones (they always get cut off and I only receive message one out of 2). Grrrrr!!! Not happy. I have restarted my phone as well, and no help. Time clock and weather widgets are also not updating quickly. What now???

Droid DNA would have a completely different experience from the Thunderbolt

Sorry.. Just saw that this page was for the Droid DNA. Any info about the update to a Thunderbolt? I am so aggravated with the update. I just did this update this morning, so I thought it was the same one I just got.

Didn't fix my intermittant SIM card has left the building issue. Fixed sms backgrounds. Other than I don't notice much. Upgraded last night. So jury is still out

RedNJ says:

this update broke my mobile data completely. No 4G or 3G or any type of internet connection except wifi. my phone is not rooted. I have not found any solution yet

I had the same problem after the update. But I had bought the phone in the US and was using it in Europe with a European cell service provider sim card. GSM/UMTS options The update change the mobile data settings. Go to settings> Mobile data> access point name > select the appropriate APN and re-configure the settings.

The update change the name of the access point but adding VZW to the beginning. Not sure if you are in the same situation but check you data setting but verifying the info with someelse phone that has the same network provider.
