Register in February and take advantage for the whole of 2014

Best Buy is offering a promotion right now that'll be of interest to anyone upgrading their phone at some point in 2014. Simply register the number that you'll be upgrading – porting the number to another carrier also counts – and you can get yourself a $50 Best Buy gift card that can be used towards the cost of your new phone on AT&T, Verizon or Sprint.

Simply register online between February 2 and February 15 to take advantage of the promotion. Then, so long as you upgrade or move your number to a new carrier some time before December 31 you'll get your $50 gift card that can be used towards the cost of buying and activating your new phone. New lines and new numbers aren't eligible to take advantage of this promotion, but it's perfect to help trade up at some point in 2014.

FIRST time BB texts me after I sign up for this I'm gonna be pissed

NoNexus says:

The last time they did it, I do not remember them texting all that often. Once a quarter maybe.

Helped take $50 off my Note 3 (sorta)

I was just thinking the exact same thing, like "hmm so they want to pay me $50 to bug the hell out of me indefinitely"... Pass.

freeoscar says:

I did this last year and bought my phone from them. I've never received a single text from them.

Ya know, if I didn't live in the US, I'd be pissed that most of these deals aren't available to the rest of the world.

Best Buy lasted about a year in the UK before it was closed down. Had about 12 stores, sold them to a supermarket

NoNexus says:

pretty prevalent in Canada though right?

MERCDROID says:

Only a year!? Wow...

l00natic71 says:

I think many other countries get better deals on service...save for Canada with what seems that 3yr contracts are the norm.

This is very true, brother.

Damn...........My wife is upgrading her samsung stratosphere on Saturday (Feb 1st) to get a free S4 (verizon) before the sale ends.

tdizzel says:

Are you upset that she is getting a phone for free instead of getting $50 off?

NoNexus says:

If she is coming from a Stratosphere, you cannot be mad if she is getting an upgrade...

Stratosphere wasn't bad. The one dev that it had was pretty good too, though my wife wouldn't let me mess with her phone too much.

mcgowane79 says:

No.....Just wish it was for now not the day after.

Best Buy should match CostCo. Also the $50 off comes as a gift card not as a deduction off the phone. You can just choose to use is that way if you choose or for cases whatever. As long as you do the activation @ BestBuy they will give you $50 on a gift card.

BB doesn't price match phones anymore when I asked. Still worth a shot

Can you rerun this story Feb 2nd so we remember to do this?

Psyclone says:

In most cases you're better off just doing a price match with Amazon, Radio Shack, etc. Right now Amazon's upgrade price for a white Note 3 on Sprint is 279.99. Best Buy's price is $349.99, netting you a $70 savings by price matching vs. the $50 gift card deal. Unfortunately you cannot combine the gift card with a price match. I've tried.
