Case-Mate Barely There Case for the HTC EVO 4G

Not everyone is interested in the biggest and bulkiest case designed for their phone. Some keep their phones in their pocket, some in their purse, and for these people, I suggest the Case-Mate Barely There Case for the HTC EVO 4G.

The case is a single, thin-yet-hard impact resistant shell that fully covers the backside of your EVO 4G, sans camera, flash, and speaker. It doesn't cover the top or the bottom of your phone, so your headphone jack, power button, USB port, and HDMI part all still uncovered, as is the volume rocker on the side of the phone. It literally just snaps around the phone and isn't very difficult to get off. For the front of the screen, Case-Mate includes a screen protector that'll cover up your whopping display.

If you're after a case that'll protect the minimum essentials of your phone without adding the heft of other brands, the Case-Mate Barely There Case is for you. You can find it in the Android Central Store in black and pink for $17.95. More pics are after the break.

HTC EVO 4G case review: Case-Mate Barely There

It's plastic. I've had mine for a while now. Pretty decent, not a lot of protection though. Can't believe they are just reviewing this now.

Nice case... looks like it might even allow for some of the OEM car and desktop cradles for the Evo.

Also, great looking home screen in the pic. Which one is that?

Nice case....until you drop your Evo. Went almost a year and finally dropped my Evo as it was inside my car door. I opened the door and my Evo fell out onto teh concrete. The Barely There case went flying as did the battery door and battery. I now have four dings on each corner of my Evo. Needless to say, I now have a thinner case that covers the entire phone. Nice concept, Case-mate but as the design shows, it offers very little protection.

Still, it does offer some protection versus going naked, which was another consideration for me. Maybe my pants are too tight, but after trying a Body Glove case from the Sprint store for a month, I wanted to add as little bulk to the phone as possible.

This case and screen protectors we bought separately were the perfect solution for my wife and me (black for me and pink for her) versus bulkier options.

I got the Case-Mate Barely There after trying the OtterBox cases (Commuter and Defender). The OB cases offer great protection but they are a little too bulky, and the rubber piece lack on quality (they stretch to easy). I have kept them for use in extreme and dusty environments, ie. mountain hiking. The CM BT is great for every day use due to the light weight and barely adds bulk to the device. I recommend it for those that carry their device in the back pocket. I really don't think that this case offer great protection for those that carry the device in purses and/or bags due to the lack of protection at the top and bottom of the device. It does a great job protecting the camera lens.
