Beats by Dre HTC

That's it, folks. Cat's officially out of the bag. The Beats by Dre blog has officially announced its partnership with HTC, ahead of HTC's official "major news announcement" Thursday but after CEO Peter Chou spilled the beans. Here's the skinny:

Today marks an incredible day for sound and Beats by Dr. Dre. We are announcing a partnership with HTC, one of the world’s leading wireless manufacturers. With this announcement, our two brands are coming together to redefine the smart phone category and redefine the way that sound is heard.

Over the past year, Beats by Dr. Dre has continued to evolve from a headphone company to a cultural movement that is redefining the way sound is heard. We have strived to take studio-quality music into the hands of you, our consumers, across the globe. This partnership with HTC represents the next phase of our vision, placing the utmost importance on giving smart phone fans the opportunity to hear the highest-quality of sound possible. The Beats team, still led by Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine, will continue to manage Beats autonomously.

There will be a lot more exciting news to come and we will continue to keep you on top of all of the wonderful things happening within the Beats World. This is truly an incredible chapter for Beats and we are proud to have you with us. Let’s Go!

So there you have it. Beats by Dre and HTC, hand in hand.

That's awesome, and just one more thing that will draw more people into Android and away from the lesser smart phones via HTC handsets. WiMo may see some benefit too, but HP, BB, Apple may take a digger by losing some hardcore music lovers. At least we can hope.

I thought Monster produced those headphones? Is it a licensing agreement or an actual acquisition?

Congratulations ,
Did you see the "Beats DETOX limited edition" ? its awesome , but expensive , costs around 650 USD in Saudi Arabia

If you coupled the Studio head sets with the right tracks (With Good quality) , you will get an amazing experience*

*I've tried it with an instrumental version of the track in Chrysler's 300 S commercial by Dr.Dre

I'm really not looking forward to this. Beats are mediocre headphones at best. I wish HTC would partner with a decent audio company like Sennheiser or Shure.

As an owner of Shure SE425's I couldn't agree with you more. I seriously do not understand what all the hype behind a clearly inferior product line is. Although if they can somehow
improve the volume on my Dinc2 speakerphone then hey im all for it.

And how are these better than IEMs like the Shure and Westone?

Seems like a non-event... :-P

This is awesome , I've couple of questions though

- Is it gonna be a Beats internal speaker ? like the traditional phone speakers , or an external (Sold Separately kind of) speakers ?

- How is the battery gonna handle it (incase of traditional built-in) ? Lets face it , HTCs aren't known for their battery life ! through in a Dual-Core CPU* & 4+ screen , ...etc & see how does that work out !

I hope HTC release something (With Beats audio real soon) before I get a new phone (In October)
I also hope that HTC keep the beats audio limited to their High-End line only

* I do realize that Dual-Core CPUs are more power efficient than the Single-Core ones , but Im just giving an example

I've been waiting for something like this for a long time (well , since the first Beats was released)

Why People are hating on it ?

by the way , Beats got NOTHING to do with Apple !
Beat by Dr.Dre is audio company , more like Bose & part of their business is Media players & guess who makes the most successful line of Media players ? (iPods ring a bill)

Anything related to Monster gets hate by proxy. Android is championed by techies, and I can't think of any entity that is more universally despised by techies than Monster. It makes Beats look like a gimmick, and the Dr. Dre thing makes it worse.

It honestly looks like HTC is just paying for a logo. The things you need to do to make audio better on a smartphone are obvious; HTC doesn't need the assistance of a company like Beats to figure them out. It's just a matter of making audio quality a priority.

It's definitely targeted towards mainstream users

It will definitely not jus be speakers....there is software behind the head phones. That is why only certiain devices have beats audio.

So,....what, they gonna include a pair of overpriced plastic Beats by Dre crap-phones with every HTC phone? They gonna redo the audio stack in HTC phones to make it more.....Beat.y? What? Meh.

Lol if it brings better audio than whatever but yes beats is only popular because of the name it's backed by. that name alone will attract converts... Kinda like how obama got votes from a certain population that hadn't voted until there was a black president. Hope that doesn't sound racist because I'm not but it's a valid marketing point. Marketing addresses many aspects and rac, culture and ethnicity are huge targets. HTC is gonna bank on this deal.

In my opinion, these headphones are specifically designed for particular genres of music, hip-hop, rock and pop.
