Google will reveal more information about its plans for Project Ara - its attempt to produce a smartphone with modular hardware components - today starting at 11 a.m. EST as part of its second Module Developers Conference in Mountain View, California.
The keynote for the conference will begin at that time and Google will livestream the event for you to view. Google has already said that the conference will include the release of the company's latest Ara Module Developers Kit (MDK) for software and hardware developers.
We have been hard at work maturing and improving the Ara platform, and we will highlight the major changes and advances in the MDK. We will also demo the latest Ara prototype and developer hardware. We will highlight some ongoing module development efforts from select developers. And we will share early plans for a market pilot in 2015.
Google previously announced a number of companies, including NVIDIA, Marvell and Rockchip, will provide options for the processor inside Project Ara-based smartphones.
