HTC One Google Play edition

Small security fix hits two weeks after finding its way to Nexus devices

The Google Play edition version of the HTC One is pulling down an OTA update tonight that brings it back up to speed with Nexus devices on build JWR66Y. The update, which folks are indicating has been hitting at least some devices, is to the same one that hit Nexus phones and tablets about two weeks ago with a quick security fix.

Besides a small bump in build number to JWR66Y.H1 and a few numbers changed in the kernel version, you should notice no user-facing changes, just as was the case when the update hit Nexus devices.

Seeing the update on your own HTC One GPe? Let us know how you're getting along in the forums.

It should, assuming that it is the Stock ROM and not an AOSP based ROM. They should roll them out over a couple of days/weeks anyway, so if you're desperate use the wipe trick to search for new OTAs.

I just received the update on my HTC One GPe - converted from Stock international. Interestingly the OTA seemed fine about having TWRP recovery installed...

So finally HTC started attracting users. But remember apple even got 10 best features in iPhone 5S and believe me Htc you can even fail in competitions. See the features of the new iPhone here : http://devamshtech.com/?p=240

Got the update just a moment ago on mine. I already had root on my One, along with TWRP custom recovery and the update installed without any issues. Didn't have to restore stock recovery and did not lose root after the update was done. Nice!

aaka3207 says:

Got it yesterday. It did NOT get rid of my root access. I really don't notice a difference.
