Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic finally lands on Android

It may have taken its sweet time after seeing an initial mobile release on iOS over a year ago, but Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic has finally made its Android debut. The port brings the massively popular title to a whole new audience with optimized touch controls.

If you need a bit of a refresher on where exactly in the Star Wars timeline this Xbox classic takes place, along with your role, here's the rundown given on the Play Store:

It is four thousand years before the Galactic Empire and hundreds of Jedi Knights have fallen in battle against the ruthless Sith. You are the last hope of the Jedi Order. Can you master the awesome power of the Force on your quest to save the Republic? Or will you fall to the lure of the dark side? Hero or villain, savior or conqueror... you alone will determine the destiny of the entire galaxy!

The game's graphics haven't necessarily aged well, but it is worth a play through if you've never given it a shot before. Right now, you can snatch it up for a cool $4.99 — a 50 percent discount — by clicking through the Play Store badge above.

  • This is Red Leader standing by. Nexus 6 is reading normal. I repeat. Nexus 6 is reading normal. Speaking of normal. Now that we are one big happy family with Disney, do you think Ariel's really happy? I was thinking about makin a move once this Death Star stuff is all over. I mean she's hot right? That Prince she married seems like chump. Saw him the other day and he broke out in some stupid song. I was like what?? Plus Ariel is still combing her hair with a fork so I figured I got a good shot. Zenwatch rhymes with Winwatch. Coincidence? I think not.
  • It works fine with my note 4 . Of all the phones I have on my account the Motorola droid turbo and the Samsung Galaxy s3 and s2 skyrocket don't work but my note 3 , nexus 5 and note 4 do . • I have no character textures on Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500. Also the interactable doors have no textures. The characters appear all white. Changing graphics within the game doesn't help. I have also tried to tun on 4X MSAA from developer options but no luck. Any help will be appreciated.
  • same problem on Galaxy S4 i9500, all white for faces and doors and most bodies
  • Please let me know if you find a solution.
  • Try GLtools apk from play market - its non free but pretty cheap. its needed rotted device however. So inside apk there need to check custom settings for KOTOR and Optimize GLSL shaders... it works for me.
  • You find any solution to this ? Non root solution?
  • I'm running it on my Galaxy S3. (verizon). controls actually feel pretty natural and are way better than chronotrigger on iOS. I can't imagine running it on a screen smaller than the S3's though.
