Google has confirmed it will have two more Pixels to launch in 2020, and they'll both have 5G. The Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 will come later to complement the standard Pixel 4a, and while we have a decent idea of what they'll be like through leaks, Google isn't spilling details.
There's no Pixel 4a Xl, and it turns out there isn't a 5 XL either. Google is said to be launching three smartphones this year, but this new lineup ditches the old strategy for one which brings 5G to the masses.
With delay after delay pushing back the Pixel 4a's launch into July and possibly August, it would make a lot of sense for Google to simply call it the Pixel 5a and launch it alongside the Pixel 5 in October.
I don't actually believe that the Pixel camera team is in jeopardy because it lost its lead engineer. But it's worth thinking about just how important Levoy's departure is when you take into account that camera quality is the main reason to buy a Pixel over other phones.
