Galaxy S6

The Samsung Galaxy S6 was announced just last week, but it's lack of waterproofing (a feature present in the Galaxy S5 and glass back were disappointing to some. But, true to form, Samsung's rumored to have an "Active" variant of the device in the works that not only brings back waterproofing, but adds some ruggedization to the perceived fragility of the new Samsung flagship.

Both the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4 had Active variants that butched up the phone's case with sturdy rubber bumpers, waterproofing, and shockproofing — and the phones looked the part (there was even a camouflage back available for the Galaxy S5 Active). Internally, the Galaxy S6 Active is said to follow suit by having nearly identical specs to the standard Galaxy S6, though in this case gaining a huge 3500mAh battery (the standard Galaxy S6 has nearly a full ampere-hour less at 2550mAh). That'd put the rumored Galaxy S6 Active right in the neighborhood of the Motorola Droid Turbo.

As with the previous SX Active devices, the Galaxy S6 Active is reported to launch first on AT&T, though at this point we can't say exactly when to expect it to be released. As for the standard Samsung Galaxy S6? That's still on track for a April 10 release on all major carriers.
