While everything else seems to be getting more expensive lately, there's one crucial commodity that's been largely unaffected: wireless service. With the growing ubiquity of prepaid carriers, even the largest mobile service providers are beginning to lower their prices and offer new data plans for the budget-minded consumer.

Verizon already revolutionized the wireless experience with its customizable myPlan program, but the Big Three carrier has just taken things even further by launching its brand new Simplicity plan. Starting at just $30 per month (for new members with AutoPay), the new phone plan provides unlimited talk, text, and data on Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband network, mobile hotspot data, and more.

I've been covering Verizon plans for quite a few years now, but even I have to admit that this sounds too good to be true. Is the new Simplicity plan right for you and your family? Let's discuss. 

In addition to unlimited wireless on Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband network, the new Simplicity plan also comes with 10GB of mobile hotspot data, international roaming and satellite texting, call filter, and optional entertainment bundles that you can mix and match every month. 

These packages include the "For Movie Lovers" bundle, which gives you access to Disney Plus, Hulu, Netflix, and HBO Max for only $23 per month. Other bundles include music streaming, cloud storage, and international benefits for additional monthly fees.

So what's the catch? 

The Verizon Simplicity plan offers a ton of value no matter how you look at it, but that doesn't mean it's for everyone. One thing I noticed is that, unlike other Verizon plans, the Simplicity plan doesn't get cheaper the more lines you add. For new Verizon customers, the plan costs $30/month per line, whether you're adding one line or four. This could be a problem for families who try to save money by utilizing multiline discounts.

Furthermore, it appears that video streaming on the Simplicity plan is capped at 720p, and unlike most cheap phone plans offered by MVNO carriers, taxes and fees aren't included in the price listed above. And again, the $30 per month price is only available to new subscribers who use AutoPay — existing Verizon customers will pay $45 per month for each line.

Is the Simplicity plan worth it?

If you're a new customer who is ready to switch to Verizon and you don't need all of the bells and whistles offered by premium unlimited plans, then Verizon's Simplicity plan might be perfect for you. If you're an existing Verizon customer or you're looking to bring the whole family, however, I'd probably look elsewhere. 

T-Mobile may get all of the attention when it comes to Android phone deals, but if you're looking for an affordable wireless solution with no hidden fees or confusing contract, the subsidiary Metro by T-Mobile might be the carrier for you.

The Galaxy S26 Plus has been largely overshadowed by other 2026 Android phones, and that's a shame when you consider the overall package here. We've said it before: OEMs don't need to be producing new flagship phones every year, let alone three. But now that the Galaxy S26 Plus is among us, it deserves a closer look, especially if you can get it for free from your wireless carrier.

I haven't been shy about my hatred for eSIM, the digital technology that stores SIM information on your device rather than on a separate SIM card. One of the occupational hazards of my job is that I'm always switching phone lines between iOS and Android phones. Ever since Apple and Google shifted to selling eSIM-only phone models, it has been painstakingly difficult. I'd have taken a 50% success rate, but my luck with transferring eSIMs between iOS and Android felt more like an unrelenting struggle.

If you've had similar eSIM hardships, trust me, I believe you. With that being said, I'm thrilled to report that Apple and Google have finally figured out cross-platform eSIM transfers. This isn't exactly a new feature — it was first announced at last year's WWDC — but it required software updates to work. In other words, the joint feature wouldn't do users much good until the general public widely adopted iOS 26 and Android 16.

It feels like we're there because I've been transferring eSIMs at least once a week for months, and I haven't set foot in an AT&T store once. This is how you can quickly and easily transfer eSIM data from an iPhone to an Android phone, or from an Android phone to an iPhone, without calling your carrier or going to a store.

For years, iOS and Android didn't play nice

The technology behind eSIM isn't bad — the reality is quite the opposite. While physical SIM cards are easier to transfer between devices, this enables security vulnerabilities like "SIM swapping." This attack involves stealing a locked phone, removing the physical SIM card, and inserting it into another device, where hackers can intercept things like two-factor SMS codes. Additionally, eSIMs are easier to purchase on a whim. You can buy a travel eSIM online and load it onto your phone in minutes.

Unfortunately, the infrastructure just wasn't there to support easy eSIM switching before. Transferring from iPhone to iPhone or Android to Android was simple, but moving eSIMs between platforms was a headache. You likely had to contact your carrier, provide IMEI numbers, or walk into a physical store to get the transfer completed. With a physical SIM, a SIM-eject tool is all you need to switch phones.

Apple and Google finally fixed this shortcoming with iOS 26 and Android 16. Now, you can seamlessly move SIM data between devices without resetting them or contacting a carrier.

How to transfer an eSIM from iOS to Android

Transferring an eSIM from an iPhone to an Android phone is simple, as long as you've got the right hardware and software. Check that your carrier supports peer-to-peer eSIM transfers between iOS and Android. Then, verify your iPhone is updated to iOS 26, and your Android phone is running Android 16.

Since both devices will be without cellular data briefly during the eSIM transfer process, it's important to connect them to a Wi-Fi network. Simply sticking with the cellular data or mobile hotspot connection from the eSIM you need to transfer won't cut it. After you've connected to Wi-Fi and checked that your devices are ready, you can begin the transfer.

On your Android phone:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Tap Network & Internet.

3. Press SIMs & mobile network.

4. Tap Download new SIM.

5. Select Transfer SIM from another device.

6. Choose to transfer from iPhone.

7. You'll now see a QR code that can be used to initiate the transfer. Alternatively, you can tap Pair your devices manually to view a Session ID and Pairing code.

Now that you have the QR code and pairing details ready to go, it's time to pull out your iPhone.

On your iPhone:

8. Open the Camera app and scan the QR code on your iPhone.

9. Alternatively, navigate to Settings > Cellular > Transfer Phone Number > Continue to scan the QR code on your iPhone or enter the manual Session ID and Pairing Code numbers.

10. Select the phone number you want to transfer, then hit Continue.

All you need to do now is keep both devices close to each other and wait for the transfer to finish. Soon, your eSIM will be transferred from your iPhone to your Android phone.

How to transfer and eSIM from Android to iOS

To start transferring an eSIM from an Android phone to your iPhone, make sure both devices are updated to at least Android 16 and iOS 26. Then, you'll need to use each device throughout the pairing and transfer process.

Remember that both phones will need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for the transfer to complete — cellular data or a mobile hotspot from the eSIM you're transferring won't work. With that out of the way, let's begin!

On your iPhone:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Tap the Cellular tab.

3. Press Set up Cellular.

4. Tap Transfer from Android.

5. Read the disclaimer about device and carrier support, then press Continue.

6. You'll now see a QR code that can be used to initiate the transfer. Alternatively, you can tap Other options to view a manual Session ID and Pairing code.

Now, it's time to pick up the Android phone that has the eSIM you want to transfer.

On your Android phone:

7. Open the Camera app and scan the QR code on your iPhone.

8. Alternatively, navigate to Settings > Google > All services > Pair with iPhone or iPad > Transfer eSIM to enter the manual Session ID and Pairing Code numbers.

9. Wait for the devices to connect.

10. Choose an eSIM to transfer to your iPhone, then hit Transfer.

11. Enter your passcode or use biometrics to authorize the eSIM transfer.

Now, go back to your iPhone. In a minute or two, your eSIM will have been transferred from your Android phone to your iPhone. You'll see a spinning Activating screen on your iPhone while you wait.

Eventually, a Phone Number Transfer Complete screen will appear on your iPhone confirming that the eSIM transfer was successful. Now, the eSIM you were just using on an Android phone is connecting your iPhone to a cellular network,

Switching to an Android phone just got so much easier

There are little things that make switching between platforms tricky, and eSIM used to be one of them. When Apple and Google both started selling eSIM-only phones in the U.S. without the infrastructure needed to switch phone lines between them, they were equally to blame for the fallout. What you need to know

• T-Mobile sticks to its word and finally rolls out its network-native AI Live Translation beta for customers.
• This feature runs natively through its 5G network, meaning you will only need to dial *87* when on a call to initiate the real-time AI translator (no extra downloads needed).
• T-Mobile states that since this AI runs natively in its network, it can work on "virtually any phone" from smartphones to old flip phones.

T-Mobile teased and talked about the basics a few months ago, and now it's ready for the full "native" Live Translation beta.

Back in February, T-Mobile talked about how it wanted to move into a "native" AI experience to help people using its service. Today (May 21), T-Mobile sent a press release, highlighting the Live Translation beta. Its president of technology and CTO, John Saw, says this test will serve as an "early example of network-native AI." Together with its 5G network, T-Mobile is leaning on telco edge and its distributed cloud infrastructure to implement AI processes in its cell network.

A blog post goes into more detail, stating that the Live Translation beta has officially arrived "into the network our customers use every day, so conversations can truly flow, with no language barriers."

This AI translator is "contextually-aware" and operates in real-time to translate what callers are saying. T-Mobile ensures its users that all call translations are handled over its network, without needing to download an extra app or software. To use it, you must be a T-Mobile customer and dial *87* during a call. The post says its AI Live Translation supports "over 80 languages (and counting)." However, only one person needs to be on T-Mobile's network to use this feature and dial *87*.

Another statement reads, "It all works on virtually any phone that connects to our network, from the newest smartphone to a classic flip phone."

Just the start

With Live Translation's beta arriving today, T-Mobile is teasing its network-based AI. It says that, for the longest time, cell networks have been "defined by how fast and how far they could go." In this new age, T-Mobile foresees a shift toward an "intelligent network" with network-native AI. Live Translation's capabilities will expand throughout the year. T-Mobile states consumer feedback will be invaluable, as it looks to enhance this feature for callers.

We got our first glimpse of T-Mobile's network-native AI feature in February. Details were light; however, its CEO, Srini Gopalan, said, "Some of the biggest barriers wireless customers face are the simplest ones — like being able to understand each other." The entire purpose of this feature is to better connect people with others, like family members who live in other countries and primarily speak Spanish, Portuguese, or Korean.

Android Central's Take

This feature sounded cool back in February when T-Mobile first discussed. Now that it's actually here for customers, hopefully it works as good as they say. This is an opt-in feature, so if you can understand what your family member is saying, then you don't need to turn it on. But this is something convenient, and feels like a next (useful) step up from what we have on our phones. If I can open this app and understand what you're saying, shouldn't a cell network carry that same usefulness if I want it?

I write about Verizon deals a lot, like multiple-times-a-week a lot, but that doesn't mean that the Big Three carrier can't surprise me from time to time. These days, there are a lot of great prepaid phone plans to choose from, but if you like how AT&T does business and you want to get a dirt-cheap phone out of the deal, this offer on the Moto G Play (2026) is worth a look.

It's not every day we talk about things getting better or cheaper, since most of the time prices only go up. But US Mobile might be about to change that. The company has teased a new hybrid plan that could be easier on your wallet while also bringing faster home internet into the mix.

US Mobile CEO Ahmed Khattak shared a post on Reddit teasing a new plan that combines the company's service with Starlink home internet under a single bundle. Ahmed did not reveal the exact details, since the plan is launching this Thursday (i.e., tomorrow), but he did confirm that it will cost less than $50 per month.

According to the post, the plan will work across all major networks in the US, extend coverage to Canada and Mexico, include home internet powered by Starlink, and even roam globally. Ahmed also explained how difficult it is to bring all these services together into a single plan.

In the replies, he also mentioned that every customer on this plan will receive a "mini dish" that can be taken anywhere to access the internet, even in remote areas.

The post also claims that the Starlink connection included in the plan will have no data cap, all while staying under the $50 monthly price. That alone could make it a strong value, considering Starlink's residential 100Mbps plans already start at around $50 per month without mobile service bundled in.

There are still a lot of unknowns about the plan right now. We're not sure what the final pricing will be or if the sub-$50 figure Ahmed mentioned is just an introductory offer or a limited-time discount. Thankfully, all of that should become clear tomorrow when the plan officially launches.

This honestly sounds too good to be true. If US Mobile actually pulls this off under $50, it could be a huge saving for users — although, I'm staying cautiously excited for now.

The Google Pixel 10a has only been out since March 5th, but there's already a new T-Mobile deal that'll get you the midrange masterpiece for FREE with very little hassle. For a limited time, if you add a line with "most plans" on the carrier's site, you'll be eligible for a free Google Pixel 10a AND a pair of Pixel Buds 2a earbuds, no trade-in required.

That's over $600 of free Pixel goodies, and all you have to do is add a wireless line to your T-Mobile account. Both new and existing customers are eligible, making this one of the most compelling T-Mobile deals that I've seen all year. 

Typically retailing for around $499.99, the Google Pixel 10a is a cheap Android phone that comes packed full of flagship-level specs, such as a stunning 6.3-inch pOLED display, lightning-fast charging speeds, and a seven-year software promise. 

The inclusion of the last-gen Tensor G4 chipset was a bit of a head-scratcher at launch, but the phone still performs as well as any midrange device on the market, and it's likely the reason why Google was able to keep the Pixel 10a at the same price as its predecessor. 

The phone also features a ton of handy AI-boosted software features straight out of the box, and you'll be hard-pressed to find another device with cameras this good in this price range.

Naturally, you'll also need to pay for the wireless plan. These unlimited plans generally start around $50-$60 for a single line, but you can drop that price considerably by using AutoPay or adding multiple lines.

Mint Mobile deals are hardly uncommon, but they're usually limited to simple phone discounts and savings on wireless — until now. For a limited time, the T-Mobile-owned mobile provider will give you a full year of its unlimited wireless plan AND 5G Home Internet coverage for only $45 per month.

The catch is that the "$45 per month" promotion actually means a single payment of $540 upfront, but that's still remarkably cheap when you compare it to other providers. You even get a 14-day money back guarantee to ensure you're happy with the service before you're locked into the full year. 

Sure, this deal isn't for everyone. Some folks may not want to pay for a full year of service upfront, while others may miss the premium benefits of going with one of the big providers. It's also worth mentioning that both Mint's wireless plans and its 5G home internet are subject to decreased speeds when you reach a certain amount of monthly data usage (50GB for wireless, 1TB for internet), so heavy data users may want to look elsewhere.

That said, if you want to keep things simple and affordable, Mint's deals are some of the best around. And now that you can get your cheap wireless AND home internet covered in one fell swoop, dropping some cash at Mint Mobile has never felt wiser.

AT&T is making an effort to connect your mobile and home internet, but there’s a catch that could disappoint loyal customers. The company just announced AT&T OneConnect, a subscription that combines unlimited 5G mobile data and high-speed fiber internet into one monthly bill.

It sounds straightforward, but things get more complicated, especially for current AT&T customers. Here’s what OneConnect offers:

• Individual ($90): Includes one phone line, 1 Gig home internet, and up to three tablets or wearables.
• Duo ($120): Offers two phone lines, the same 1 Gig internet, and up to six data devices.
• Family ($225): Provides up to 10 phone lines, up to 10 data devices, and internet for one household.

These prices include taxes and fees, which is rare now. The Family plan stands out. If you use all 10 lines, it works out to about $22.50 per line with fiber internet included. That’s less than most prepaid plans, not to mention postpaid family plans.

New customers only

Now for the fine print. First, this offer is only for new AT&T customers. If you already use AT&T wireless or fiber, you can’t move your current accounts to OneConnect.

Second, it’s bring your own device only. There are no discounted phone deals. You need to use your own unlocked eSIM-compatible devices. AT&T might offer promotions later, but for now, you’ll pay full price for your devices elsewhere.

There are also limits on data. AT&T advertises unlimited connectivity, but the details show there’s no hotspot access on mobile lines. The company hasn’t said much about network priority, but since OneConnect is compared to entry-level plans from other leading carriers such as T-Mobile and Verizon, it’s likely your data will be deprioritized. In busy areas, your speeds could slow down before those on Premium plans.

This is a big change from the carrier's usual flexible options. With standard plans, you can mix and match, like a parent on Premium 2.0 for priority data and a teen on Value 2.0 to save money. OneConnect is one-size-fits-all. You either choose the bundle or you don’t.

So who is this plan for? If you have a large family that mostly uses Wi-Fi and only needs basic cellular data for messaging and light streaming, the Family plan is a great deal. But if you need a mobile hotspot for work, want to finance the latest iPhone, or need top-priority data, you’ll run into these limits quickly.

Android Central's Take

Honestly, the "new customers only" rule is frustrating. It’s a common industry move that ends up punishing loyal subscribers. We deserve better than being told to wait behind people who haven’t even paid yet. Still, the convenience is a big advantage for those who qualify. After dealing with multiple login portals just to manage my internet and phone, I can see the value in a single billing cycle. It’s a real step toward making digital life easier, even if AT&T is acting like an exclusive club right now.

The Big Spring Sale returns tomorrow, March 25th, but it's unlikely Amazon's discounts will include any major deals on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Instead, if you want to save big on Samsung's best phone, the only realistic way to do it is through your wireless carrier.

Most mainstream wireless providers are offering some kind of deal on the super-powered flagship, but T-Mobile's offer is easily my favorite. Add a line with the Experience Beyond plan and you'll get enough promo credits to make the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra completely free. No trade-in required! 

The only catch is that you'll need to pay any applicable taxes and the $35 device activation fee, but considering that the phone usually costs $1,300, I'm not about to start complaining.

Of course, the biggest issue with this T-Mobile deal is the carrier's eligibility requirements. Starting at $105/month for a single line, the Experience Beyond plan is simply going to be too expensive for a lot of people. The bright side is that you can lower that price considerably by using AutoPay or adding multiple lines to your account. Adding four lines to the Experience Beyond plan, for example, can drop the price down to as little as $54/month per line.

The Experience Beyond plan also comes with a ton of handy perks that make the steep price worth it, such as unlimited premium data, an unlimited mobile hotspot, and a ton of international benefits. Your plan will even come with free subscriptions to Netflix and Hulu.

Is this deal for everyone? Probably not, but if you want to pair one of the world's best unlimited plans with one of the world's best phones, this is the best way to do it while saving a ton of cash in the process.

Wireless carriers provide some of the best phone deals on the web, but if you want a straightforward offer without all of the confusing eligibility requirements, it'd be wise to look beyond the Big Three.

6G will power low-latency connected AI experiences

In the future, AI agents might be orchestrating these hardware categories, connecting them all with streamlined software.

That sounds pretty clever, but if AI agents are working across multiple wireless devices at once, they need fast connections. That's why 6G is being built to address these traffic and speed needs. We're expecting 6G to offer a five times greater traffic capacity than 5G, and 50% higher spectral efficiency for uplink and downlink connectivity.

In simple terms, this means your AI devices will be able to connect with each other and cloud servers faster than ever before. 6G will deliver connected experiences that aren't currently possible due to latency limitations.

6G will make XR and spatial computing mainstream

Speaking of connected experiences, 6G will go a long way in making mixed-reality XR experiences mainstream. Currently, devices like Meta Ray-Ban Display or Samsung Galaxy XR are bottlenecked by how much data can be transferred to deliver high-quality video, AI processing, and gaming performance. Then it arrives, 6G will improve these experiences by providing higher uplink speeds capable of supporting multiple 4K or 8K video streams.

Since most XR glasses and headsets rely heavily on streaming, tethering, or cloud processing to provide features, a high-speed and low-latency mobile network like 6G could make use cases like game streaming or remote desktop control actually usable. It's all about cutting down the time you have to wait for your devices to talk with your phone and the cloud to return a response. So, when you look at something and ask a question while wearing camera-equipped smart glasses, the response will feel nearly instant when 6G arrives.

6G will elevate public infrastructure in the next decade

6G will also enable a sensory network that can use RF signals and drones to map out environments, powering new kinds of infrastructure, like self-driving car networks. As self-driving car systems like Waymo become mainstream, you'll need a fast, low-latency network to connect cars to control centers. You'll also need to be able to process data from sensors like cameras, radar, or LiDAR, in a near instant, and 6G will make that possible.

Robotics is another emerging technology that's not too far away, with companies like Tesla going all-in on humanoid robots that could be controlled remotely. Just like with self-driving cars, robots need a fast and efficient network to work properly. 6G's biggest feature might be its capacity upgrade, as new uses for mobile networks like AI, self-driving cars, and robotics will increase congestion. 5G isn't fast enough, nor does it have enough capacity for the expected traffic spikes.

6G aims to solve both of those problems, and you can expect to see advances in autonomous vehicles, robotics, AI, and spatial computing coincide with the upgraded mobile network when it's ready for a commercial release.

When can we expect consumer-ready 6G?

Right now, 6G is currently in development and in the research and study phase. That will continue into 2027 and 2028, when pre-commercial devices will be tested. Then, the commercialization of 6G will happen the following year. That means you'll be able to start using 6G at the end of this decade, with the mobile network likely going mainstream in the 2030s. It sounds far away, but it'll come sooner than you think, bringing new AI and XR experiences with it.

T-Mobile's introducing its users to what it's calling a "smart" network, powered by AI to make daily life a little easier.

Earlier this morning (Feb 11), T-Mobile announced that it's preparing to implement a "real-time" agentic AI platform onto its cellular network for callers. The CEO of T-Mobile, Srini Gopalan, states, "Some of the biggest barriers wireless customers face are the simplest ones — like being able to understand each other." By adding real-time AI services to its cell network, T-Mobile aims to help people connect with the ones they care about.

What T-Mobile is preparing to bring first is real-time translation services when calling on its network. Weaving it into the network, T-Mobile says it solves issues that such services have, such as forcing users to reach for other apps, subscription costs, and more.

The service unveiled Live Translation, a network-native AI feature for its 5G network. The company states that any device connected to its network will be capable of using Live Translation during calls. For specifics, T-Mobile clarifies that only one person needs to have its services to "initiate translation, and translation is instantaneous after activation."

Interested in the beta?

Connecting people across languages is well and good, but T-Mobile states that it wants to show users a little more—so, there's a beta. Eligible T-Mobile customers can begin signing up in hopes of receiving access later this year. The post states early testing access is expected to begin showing up by the spring.

Once this Live Translation test arrives, T-Mobile teases that users can kickstart its translation capabilities by dialing *87* to "activate or deactivate" the AI feature. T-Mobile adds that its AI service can "automatically detect two different languages and translate them in real time." Over 50 languages are reportedly receiving support for Live Translation across more than 215 countries.

T-Mobile encourages interested users to sign up as early as possible, as spaces are limited.

Android Central's Take

It seems like T-Mobile is stepping into the translation services users can receive on Samsung's Galaxy phones and more with this announcement. All I have right now is what's on the surface, which is just T-Mobile's word for how this works. Even the company's short teaser video hypes up how useful this is. One thing that I'm most curious about is latency—if there is any. The speed of real-time translation will undoubtedly be a boon for this feature, as users won't want to awkwardly wait for the network's AI to translate their loved one's phrase.

AT&T is closing the week by announcing the launch of its first kids' phone, aimed at children 12 years and younger.

AT&T kicks off the announcement by highlighting that "60%" of parents with children up to the age of 12 view phones as a key device for safety reasons. On the back of that research comes AT&T's first kids' phone: the amiGO Jr. According to its press release, this device is a "simple and safe smartphone designed to keep parents connected and kids protected."

If the phone looks familiar, it's because AT&T tapped Samsung for the hardware aspect of the device. The company is using a Galaxy A16 5G model, which sports a 6.7-inch display and a triple camera array, consisting of a 50MP lens, a 5MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro camera. It also sports a decent 5,000mAh battery, so your child's not always reaching for their charger.

AT&T dips back into its data, which shows that 40% of its customers are parents. The amiGO Jr. Phone is designed to help parents "navigate a complex digital world" with their kids. The amiGO Jr. Phone is said to have Live Location monitoring, Safe Zone alerts, and Schedules, so parents can limit their child's device time, especially during school. More than that, parents have access to a collection of parental controls, limiting website access, apps, and more.

Hey, there's a watch, too

On the other hand, AT&T announced a new smartwatch that parents can get for their kids, too. The device, known as the amiGO Jr. Watch 2, takes what it started with the original up a notch with increased durability, native messaging, games, and much more.

AT&T informs that new and existing customers can purchase the amiGO Jr. Phone and amiGO Jr. Watch 2 for $2.99 per month, no trade-in required. Parents can also check out the entire amiGO family.

AT&T and Samsung have a long-standing history with one another in crafting devices for younger audiences. While we have the service provider's first kids' phone and its 2nd Gen smartwatch, there was a tablet a few years ago, too. The two companies collaborated on a tablet known as the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite Kids Edition with an 8.7-inch display, a rugged case, and a collection of parental controls.

A major takeaway here for this AT&T announcement is the existence of choice. Parents don't have to opt for this style of device, but for those who want that peace of mind, who want that knowledge of where their child is in an easier package, it's a good choice. Another aspect of this that I can appreciate is that AT&T is offering this through their own services, meaning parents can quickly grab this and pop it into their plan without much effort.

Whether you want a new smartphone, internet provider, or unlimited wireless plan, Mint Mobile is an outstanding prepaid carrier and home to some of the best deals on the web. On the other hand, although it beats the competition, $140 for three lines isn't exactly cheap. I wouldn't recommend switching to the Family Value plan unless you plan to take advantage of all of the benefits described here. If you simply want a straightforward data plan with talk, text, and data for the family, there are plenty of MVNO carriers that could get the job done for cheap. 

The new Samsung Galaxy A17 5G literally just hit store shelves on January 7th, but surprise, surprise: you can already grab the budget smartphone for free with this new T-Mobile deal. Simply add a line with "most data plans" and the carrier will give you enough promo credits over 24 months to make the device completely free, no trade-in required. 

With this T-Mobile deal, "most data plans" means that even the carrier's entry-level Essentials plan will land you the free phone, in addition to the more-comprehensive Experience More and Experience Beyond plans. The catch is that you'll still need to pay the $35 activation fee and any applicable taxes on the phone, but that's it!

Verizon also confirmed that affected customers will receive account credits, and the details will be shared with customers.

In a post on X, Verizon states affected customers are eligible to receive $20 in account credit. Users can redeem it by logging into their myVerizon app. Keep in mind, you'll have to wait for a text to come through, notifying you of the credit's availability, before you see it in the app.

(Update: 6:03 PM ET): This afternoon, Verizon provided an update on the current outage affecting hundreds of thousands of its users.

According to its post on X, the company's teams are "on the ground actively working to fix today’s service issue that is impacting some customers." Right now, it appears as though the outage is still affecting a significant portion of Verizon's customers. TechRadar offered an update, as well, stating some have seen their service returned, while others are barely scraping by with LTE.

This issue will likely extend into the evening, so make sure you have an alternative method of communication if possible.

Verizon has lost service for hundreds of thousands of users, and phones across the U.S. showed SOS instead of signal bars.

On Wednesday, Verizon’s network went down without warning, leaving customers across the country with SOS-only status bars and dropped calls, TechRadar reports. Problems started late morning on Jan. 14, and by early afternoon, DownDetector had recorded over 170,000 outage reports from all over the U.S.

At the height of the outage, users in major areas like New York, Nevada, Florida, Las Vegas, and Texas could not make calls, send texts, or use mobile data on Verizon’s network. Even Verizon’s network status page reportedly had trouble loading.

On social platforms like X and Reddit, frustrated subscribers shared stories of dropped calls, unreachable contacts, and phones stuck in SOS mode for several minutes.

Verizon posted a statement on its official X account, saying it is “aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers” and that engineers are working to find and fix the problem.

The company apologized for the inconvenience but has not said what caused the outage or when service will be fully restored.

Mobile virtual network operators that use Verizon’s network, like Visible, seemed to avoid the worst of the outage and continued to work normally even while Verizon’s main network was down.

The deal is best for folks who need four lines, as the 'Family Freedom' promotion is essentially earning you $3,200 in bill credits when you switch. Furthermore, thanks to T-Mobile's multi-line discounts, you and your family could be enjoying unlimited talk, text, and 50GB of premium data for as little as $100 per month with the Essentials plan. That's one of the best unlimited plans we've ever used for just 25 bucks per line!

In addition to the perks detailed above, the Essentials plan also gets you a mobile hotspot, Wi-Fi calling, and international benefits that include unlimited coverage in Mexico and Canada and unlimited texting in over 215 countries worldwide. • Verizon is cutting YouTube TV’s price by $20 a month for eligible customers, dropping it from $82.99 to $62.99 for the first six months.

Paying almost $83 each month for live TV can really add up. With streaming prices rising in 2025, finding a good deal is more important than ever. If you’re a Verizon customer, there’s a new perk that could help lower your entertainment bill.

Verizon is now offering a substantial $20 monthly discount on YouTube TV for six months, effectively slashing the entry price of one of the best live TV services on the market (via 9to5Google).

If you are a Verizon Home Internet or Mobile subscriber, you can now snag YouTube TV for just $62.99 per month, down from the standard $82.99. While this isn't a permanent price cut, it lasts for your first six months of service. Do the math, and that comes out to $120 in total savings — basically enough to cover almost two full months of the service once the promo period ends.

After that six-month honeymoon phase is over, your bill automatically reverts to the standard in-market rate.

Before signing up in the My Verizon app, check that you meet the requirements. You must be a new YouTube TV subscriber to qualify. If you already have an account with unlimited cloud DVR or NFL Sunday Ticket, you won’t be eligible unless you create a new Google account.

Additionally, you must be a current Verizon Mobile or Home Internet customer. The final requirement is billing integration: to get the discount, you have to link your YouTube TV account through the My Verizon app. This combines your bills, meaning you pay Verizon for your TV service rather than paying Google directly.

If you’re thinking about canceling cable or switching live TV providers, this deal is a great option. YouTube TV is often seen as the best choice because of its easy-to-use interface and unlimited cloud DVR. Saving $20 each month makes it even more appealing.

While everyone else is focused on buying gifts, there's one other type of holiday sale event that you should keep an eye out for: deals from your wireless carrier. T-Mobile Prepaid, for instance, is running a promo that could get you two lines of Unlimited for only $75 per month. Considering that one line usually sets you back $55 per month, the monthly savings here could be immense. And as T-Mobile is more than happy to share, it's 25% cheaper than AT&T Prepaid. 

Alternately, if you bring four lines on the 10GB plan, it'll only cost you $100 per month while the holiday promo is live. That shakes out to 25 bucks per line! Plenty of prepaid carriers run special deals this time of year, but it's unusual to find a wireless deal that supports the whole family.

Just like T-Mobile's postpaid customers, folks who use the Prepaid service will also get access to T-Mobile Tuesday. This unusual perk gives you free stuff and weekly deals on things like gas and restaurants via the T-Life app. 

Sure, T-Mobile Prepaid may not offer the most affordable prepaid phone plans we've ever seen, but they continue to be a great option for folks who want the simplicity of an MVNO with the perks and backing of a Big Three carrier.

We've seen a lot of wireless carriers launch 5G home internet services over the past few years, so it's no big surprise that T-Mobile's very own Mint Mobile has joined the party with some plans of its own. The service is cheekily called MINTernet, and the plans cost as little as $30 per month when you bundle with a Mint Mobile phone plan. 

That being said, Mint's whole shtick is selling 5G service in bulk, and the internet plans are no different. This means that, with the deal above, you're actually paying $90 upfront for three months of service. You can also sign up for six or 12 months of coverage with savings that increase the more you buy.

Mint Mobile launches its very own 5G Home Internet service

✅Recommended if: you need a cheap home internet solution and you don't mind paying for multiple months in advance; you're already a Mint Mobile user or willing to switch; you live in an area with great T-Mobile coverage (I'd check your address before you do anything else).

❌Skip this deal if: you need the fastest and most reliable internet speeds possible; you'd like your internet service to provide advanced security features or entertainment perks; you prefer to pay your internet bill on a month-to-month basis.

Just like Mint's wireless plans, MINTernet is powered by T-Mobile's vast 5G network, providing users with download speeds that typically fall in the 133-415 Mbps range, while uploads are said to have a maximum of 55 Mbps. 

After signing up, customers receive a free 5G Gateway modem in the mail with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Once you have the system up and running, you'll get unlimited data within your billing cycle, although in this case unlimited means 1TB of data before "network speeds may vary". This should come as no big surprise, seeing how T-Mobile's 5G Home Internet service is capped at 1.2TB before speeds start to slow.

Still, the download speeds and 1TB of data offer a pretty good value for the price, and this is doubly true if you're already a user of Mint's excellent wireless service. Of course, 5G home internet is never going to be as fast or reliable as traditional fiber internet, but if you're on a tight budget (and you live in an area with good T-Mobile coverage) then Mint's new service might be exactly what you're looking for.

T-Mobile's Cyber Monday sale is live, and while most of the best deals involve a good bit of fine print, you could score some serious savings if you play your cards right. One of the best offers I've seen today is a mouthful: trade in an eligible device, regardless of condition, and add a line with the Experience Beyond plan and T-Mobile will hook you up with a free Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Tab S10 FE 5G, AND the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.

Of course, nothing is ever really free with carrier deals, and you'll still need to pay for the service line of each device you claim. The "free" part comes from the retail value: all together, these devices would cost over $2,000. This Cyber Monday T-Mobile deal makes it so you aren't paying any of that.

Another nice part of the deal is that you don't have to claim all three devices to get them for free. Simply want the phone and the watch? You got it. Just the tablet? Done. The only requirement is that you grab the Z Flip 7 at minimum. After that, the choice is yours.

Starting at $100 per month for a single line (with AutoPay and before any taxes are applied), the T-Mobile Experience Beyond plan is as expensive as it is sweet. What you need to know

• T-Mobile is extending the length of its installment plans to 36 months for select devices.
• Smartwatches and tablets can only be purchased upfront in full or through three-year installment plans.
• For now, smartphones are still sold via 24-month installment plans.

A key perk of buying a phone, watch, or tablet through T-Mobile is the ability to spread device payments over monthly installment plans and earn promotional credits in the process. Notably, while competitors increased the lengths of their installment plans to 36 months, T-Mobile's installments — officially called equipment installment plans (EIPs) — remained at 24 months and 0% interest. Now, it looks like T-Mobile is finally following in its competitors' footsteps, and is launching 36-month installment plans for certain products.

This doesn't come as a major surprise, as T-Mobile mistakenly added 36-month installment plans to its website in June 2025, according to The Mobile Report. Those quickly disappeared and the 24-month terms remained until this weekend, when T-Mobile rolled out 36-month installment plans for smartwatches and tablets. Customers now only have the option of paying for their device in full or choosing a T-Mobile installment plan with a term length of three years.

The updated terms heavily incentives T-Mobile subscribers to remain with the carrier for the length of the installment plan, and avoid upgrading their devices earlier. Like many carriers, T-Mobile entices users to sign up for installment plans by offering credits and promotions that lower the overall cost of a new device. Those "get a new phone on us" deals only apply when you sign up for an installment plan.

Signing up for a T-Mobile installment plan technically doesn't lock you into paying for your phone service for the full three years. However, those promotional device credits are paid out on a monthly basis. That means if you cancel service or need to upgrade your device early, you'll be on the hook for the remaining installment plan balance. In other words, people who buy tablets and smartwatches through T-Mobile installment plans can only upgrade every three years now, as opposed to two, if they want to get all their promotional credits.

The change is yet another occurrence where T-Mobile is caught using tactics it previously mocked competing carriers for employing. Just earlier this month, T-Mobile's consumer group president acknowledged how 36-month installment plans limit upgrades and carrier-switching at the Wells Fargo Summit (via PhoneArena).

The big question is whether T-Mobile's longer installment plans will eventually extend to smartphones. For now, the 36-month term lengths only apply to tablets and smartwatches. If applied to smartphone plans in the future, T-Mobile would lose yet another differentiating factor between it and competitors like AT&T and Verizon.
