In Short

Chinese based ZTE once found itself inside the top 5 smartphone vendors globally but has recently tumbled down the list below local rivals such as Huawei, Lenovo and Xiaomi. Despite this ZTE has a better presence in western markets than some of the other Chinese OEMS, and is responsible for a wide range of budget and mid-range devices.

The higher end offerings from ZTE often aren't seen in much of Europe or in North America. Its Chinese offerings usually don't come with any Google services preloaded, either. In Europe ZTE has often formed relationships with carriers to launch own branded versions of its phones, with Orange (now EE) in the UK having been a good example.
