Sling TV is celebrating the launch of its Android TV app with a special 50 percent off deal for the Nexus Player, as long as new customers pre-pay for three months of the service
The Android app for Sling TV, an Internet-based television service that launched earlier this year, is now available for all Android TV devices via an update from the Google Play Store. To celebrate the occasion, Sling TV has teamed up with Google for an offer that will allow some people to get the Nexus Player set-top TV box for 50 percent off its normal price of $99.
The offer is for new Sling TV customers only and they have to pre-pay for the service for three months to get the 50 percent discount on the Nexus Player. The service starts at $20 a month for over 20 cable TV channels, so that means users will have to pay $60 upfront for Sling TV to get the price cut on the Nexus Player. Current owners of the set-top box can also take advantage of a seven-day free trial for Sling TV.
