Xiaomi sold 61 million devices last year, and while it is encouraging to see the vendor cross the halfway mark already this year, CEO Lei Jun stated that the goal for 2015 was to reach 100 million sales. Xiaomi needs to enter new markets to achieve that milestone, which is exactly what it's doing by launching the Redmi 2 in Brazil.

The manufacturer has announced that it will build devices locally in Brazil, and with Mexico and Colombia next on the list, it is likely that Brazil will serve as Xiaomi's manufacturing hub for the Latin American region.
