Withings, the maker of fitness smartbands such as the recently-released Pulse O2 has updated its Health Mate app, which not only supports Android 5.0 Lollipop but also has a new user interface inspired by Lollipop's Material Design. The app even throws in some new features as well.
One of the new additions is an activity tracker which doesn't require the use of a Withings smartband. The company says:
You'll be able to check your activity level on the fly, and browse through your step count history. For the first time, you will be able to see how your steps are adding up, and make decisions based on this information. Will you reach the recommended 10,000 steps a day? How many badges will you unlock? Will you be first in your Leaderboard after you've challenged your friends? We can't wait to see how the new update helps you and hear your feedback!
The update also offers a Timeline of a user's entire history of health data as recorded by the app along with "coach providing insights, badges and weekly recaps." Can a smartphone be an effective way to stay in shape?
