That, folks, is how you unlock a T-Mobile G1. It's pretty darn simple: just insert your non-T-Mobile SIM card and then enter in your SIM unlock code. How to get one of those? Simple: T-Mobile has promised they'll continue their policy of offering free unlock codes to customers after 90 days with a phone. If you're in a hurry to get it done faster, there are plenty of places to buy them online. You can even use your G1 to start Googling for them.
Once you've unlocked your phone, setting it up for Data is dead simple. Simply go to Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names then hit Menu and select New APN. Enter the settings for your Network. For example, this will set up AT&T (If it's not mentioned on this list, leave it at whatever the default was:
APN Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular

I do have a problem with the G1 it got locked by 3 times attempt and now its asking for google account and i dont have that can u tell me how to unlock or remove the attempts so that i can use it again but remmeber the mobile was working just it got locked due to 3 times attempt plz give me a solution for that.(mobile i had puchased g1 is 2nd end)

able to unlock my phone, able to make outgoin calls and to receive sms, but i am unable to receive calls, whenever someone calls the phone automatically hangs up on them. it gives them busy and i get the call in call log as recieved call.. any ideas

about the unlock code it is for that imei number, everyones will be different. and if you mess up three times on the unlock code, your phone will be permantly locked, just means youll have to get a new phone
