Twitter adds ability to share tweets privately via direct messages

Twitter is on a never ending quest to improve its messaging features, and today provides even more evidence of that. The micro-blogging service announced today via its blog that users will now be able to share tweets privately through direct messages.

If you want to start sharing your favorite tweets privately, Twitter gives a nice rundown on how to take advantage of the feature:

With today's update you'll be able to share a Tweet privately with any of your followers. To do this from either the iOS or Android mobile apps, long-press the Tweet in your timeline and choose "Share via Direct Message." On twitter.com and TweetDeck, tap the "••• More" icon and select "Share via Direct Message." The person you share a Tweet with will get a push notification, and the Tweet will display directly in the conversation.

The change is just part of further improvements to the service that Twitter announced last week in a blog post about new features that will soon be coming to the micro-blogging behemoth.
