A new kernel exploit has been found (credit to alephzain at XDA) that affects some Samsung Exynos chipsets -- which happen to power many of Samsung's more popular phones. Normally kernel exploits don't make the rounds as news, but this time the word "malware" got attached to it so it has a bit of steam behind it.
Let's start this by reminding everyone that any app or program that roots your...

Apple has amended a lawsuit they filed back in February against Samsung, and is now including four new devices to the original 17 they say violate their patented technology. The additions are the Galaxy S3 (Galaxy S III), the Verizon specific Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Note, and the Galaxy Note 10.1. These devices will join the Galaxy S II Skyrocket, the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, the Galaxy S II...

T-Mobile support has let everyone know that an optional Android 4.0.5 update for the Galaxy Tab 7-plus should be ready and waiting in Samsung Kies tomorrow. Before we go any further, we know it says 4.0.5 -- that could be a typo or it could be a specially-built version from Samsung for the Tab 7-plus. I've reached out, and will let everyone know when I hear back.

Samsung is keeping busy this weekend, as they have released the source-code for the GPL portions of the software for the Galaxy Note 10.1, as well as the Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7 plus. We're happy to see source code on time for the Note 10.1, but having the code for an ICS kernel for the Tab 10.1 and Tab 7 plus is even better news for the hacker inside...
Following last week's Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 updates, it's the turn of the Tab 7.0 Plus to receive the newly obsoleted Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. First to get the update will be the Austrian Wifi and 3G version of the tablet (GT-P6200), and the new software version should bring the Tab's UI in line with Galaxy Tab 2 products, while eliminating some of the weird lag that's characterized...
There be rumors out there I tell ye. The word on the street (well according to sammobile.com) is that the Samsung Galaxy Tab collection is to get an update to Ice Cream Sandwich starting next month with a roll out through August.
As far as we are aware there is no official word from Samsung regarding this so believe what you will, but it would be jolly nice wouldn't it?
The tipster that has '...
Samsung has been rather forthcoming when it comes to telling folks what devices will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The list of eligible devices has been updated a couple times now but one carrier; namely, T-Mobile has remained missing off that list until recently. The newly updated list now features in total, four T-Mobile devices:
Samsung Galaxy S II (SGH-t989)
Samsung has launched yet another 7-inch tablet, and this time it's a redesigned version of the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus for the German market. Similar to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 N, the Tab 7.0 Plus N is redesigned in order to work around Apple's legal shenanigans. The most noticeable change is that metallic trim around the edge of the device, which gives the front face of the device a noticeably...
