Android running on HTC Touch Pro 2

Casey Chan News Monday, 15 March 2010

A lot of Windows Mobile users are waiting for Windows Phone 7 Series to release and that's completely fair, it looks amazing. But what should you do with your Windows Mobile devices in the mean time? Why, get them to run Android of course! The Touch Pro 2 joins a series of

Android 2.1 hacked onto 4 Windows Mobile phones

Casey Chan News Tuesday, 23 February 2010

It's always fun to have smart people hack away at old phones, sometimes cool things can happen. Case in point: the folks at xda-developers have gotten Android 2.1 (yeah, that's 2.1) onto 4 old Windows Mobile phones. The HTC Kaiser (aka AT&T Tilt), Vogue, Niki, and Polaris have all been hacked to run the elusive Android 2.1. This is especially amazing...

China Mobile's Ophone gets updated, supports Windows Mobile API

Casey Chan News Thursday, 04 February 2010

This is incredibly odd. China Mobile's Ophone platform, which is based off Android, just received an update from 1.5 to 2.0. That's great because it gives Ophone users new features like voice recognition and SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) support. But that's not odd part. The odd part is that the update to the Ophone platform will also include support for Windows Mobile API. Android and Windows Mobile sitting in a...

Android Running On Windows Mobile Imagio

Casey Chan News Tuesday, 05 January 2010

Your eyes aren't deceiving you. No, that's not a new Android phone but rather the Windows Mobile HTC Imagio running our favorite OS. A PPCGeeks forum user got Android 2.0.1 (take that non-Droid phones!) running on the Windows Mobile device and it's really for kicks and giggles than for any real functionality. The forum user, drellisdee says:

Windows Phone Review -- Smartphone Round Robin

Casey Chan Featured Friday, 18 December 2009

It's the end of the first week of the Smartphone Round Robin so it's time to wrap up our thoughts on Windows Phone in a full review. There's a lot to be said about where Windows Phone is headed and we joined the choir for this one but honestly, we like the direction it's showing with 6.5. And before anything, we're going to have to say it, we like Windows Phone 6.5. *gasp*

But let's be honest, there's more similarity...

Windows Phone Hands-On Video, Smartphone Round Robin

Casey Chan News Wednesday, 16 December 2009

Let's get it started! The Third Annual Smartphone Round Robin officially begins NOW! For the first week we're taking a look at Windows Phone and seeing how it compares to our very own Android. From an Android standpoint, there's definitely a lot to learn from Windows Phone, from having multiple form factors to developing apps for different versions and screen resolutions to HTC and more, there's...

HTC CEO Feels Bad For WinMob, Won't Make Android Version of HD2

Casey Chan News Friday, 30 October 2009

From our Android-influenced perspective, the most exciting Windows Mobile phone on the horizon is the HTC HD2. It has a massively beautiful 4.3-inch, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and the very familiar HTC Sense UI. There's been talk that HTC would build an Android-...

HTC Touch HD 2 to Run Android ?

Casey Chan News Tuesday, 08 September 2009

If you don't remember the HTC Touch HD, we don't fault you. It was a splendidly wonderful, beautifully delicious type device that for some reason or another, did not launch in the US. Our friends at WMExperts had a very brief hands-on video, so if you want a refresher,

Will HTC Sense UI Be Available on Other Devices ?

Casey Chan News Thursday, 25 June 2009

Undoubtedly, the biggest hit of the HTC Hero announcement had to be the new HTC Sense UI. It was all kinds of slick, sexy, and smooth--to say we were more than impressed is to sell our reaction short--we're as excited to use the Sense UI as we were for the launch of Android back in October.

So color us jubilated when HTC CEO Peter Chou dropped this nugget:

"HTC sense will be available on some...

Le Sigh: HTC France Says They'll Always Have More Flagship Products on WinMob

Casey Chan News Friday, 12 June 2009

You can't help people sometimes. Sometimes, they're just resistant to change. When discussing the two HTC product chains--Android and Windows Mobile--HTC chief executive for France stated that HTC "will always have more flagship products on Windows Mobile". It's interesting that HTC said that because Android is the hot, new operating system that garners so much media attention while Windows Mobile is old, creaky and well, un-exciting (

HTC Press Event Scheduled for June 24th, Could Be HTC Hero Launch

Casey Chan News Wednesday, 03 June 2009

No one really has any clue what the London HTC Press Event on June 24th will be about. Our friends over at WMExperts are pulling for a Windows Mobile device but here at Android Central, we would love to see the HTC Hero pop up live and in living color. Our Windows Mobile brothers and sisters do have history on their side, the Touch Diamond was released at a similar event...
