The as-yet unannounced and unnamed tablet would run an as-yet unidentified version of Android, powered by a Tegra-based processor. And unlike the iPad (which you guys weren't too keen on

Apple announces iPad, but will it take over the Android e-reader market?

Phil Nickinson News Wednesday, 27 January 2010

Finally, it's over with. Apple announced the iPad, a 9.7-inch (diagonal) tablet that essentially is a giant iPhone, only without voice calls. And without a camera. We're nowhere near ready to pass final judgment on this thing. But given that the starting price -- for a WiFi only and a mere 16 gigabytes or storage (before the operating system, mind you) -- is $499, that takes it well into netbook/low-end laptop territory. (Of course, the unlocked

Sure, we're all about to turn our attention to what we expect to be the Apple Tablet (check out TiPB's meta-liveblog), there's still plenty of Android-powered tablet love to go around. And above is the Archos 7, outed by UK dealer Data-Mind. You're looking at a 7-inch LCD screen at 800x480, about 2.2 inches bigger than the

Phil Nickinson News Thursday, 31 December 2009

We cringe anytime we read a headline that states one company is planning to launch a product to compete with another company's product that doesn't yet exist, but such is the world in which we live. And so, that brings us to the latest pre-CES rumor, which states that HTC is prepping an Android-powered tablet and will be showing it privately next week at CES.

Of course, CES week is the one time that when something happens in...

Browser bug forces Archos to pull Android 1.6 update

Phil Nickinson News Monday, 28 December 2009

Whoopsie. No sooner than did Archos post an Android 1.6 update for the Archos 5 Internet Tablet, it apparently had to yank it. As you can see in the pic above, there was "a last-minute major issue with the Web Browser." The update was to bring improved video playback, better GPS fixes and some other Donut improvements. Archos hasn't re-released the update yet, so stay tuned. [

This render clearly shows an 8-megapixel camera with xenon flash (how's that gonna affect battery life?), while a previous look showed a...

More Pictures of Motorola Sholes Tablet Pop Up

Casey Chan News Friday, 04 December 2009

The Motorola Sholes Tablet that popped up a few days ago has reared its (rather ugly) head again. The Sholes Tablet is actually looking less like a tablet and more like just a smartphone but any way you spin it, that odd bump on the lower right corner is unshapely and just plain weird. Considering the hard angles and clean lines of the DROID, it's rather odd that Motorola would...

Any reason why we...

Mysterious Android Powered MID Spotted, Looks Like The iPhone

Casey Chan News Tuesday, 18 August 2009

We know next to nothing about this Android-powered MID (pictured above) other than the fact that we wouldn't mind using one and that it looks exactly like an iPhone, right down to the black border and chrome trim. The MID also looks to include SD card expansion, a couple of buttons, and maybe even phone capabilities. Yeah, vague, we know.

Overall, we're going to keep an eye on this completely unknown device because as much as an...

Look, we know that you can't really confirm that an Archos Android MID is going to be released on June 11th but since we've already heard reports of such device, it takes far less of a leap to believe that the Android MID by Archos is forthcoming.

Plus, the shade of green on the invitation should might as well be called

Casey Chan News Monday, 30 March 2009

Archos has made it no secret that it planned to release an Android-Powered Tablet Device in the past. And though we're not particularly sure the exact target market for this type of device, it sure sounds drool-worthy. Ultra-thin, plays high-def video on its high-resolution 5-inch touchscreen, DivX playback, full screen Adobe Flash, and so much more.

There isn't a firm release date on this puppy but the start of Q3 2009...
