Yes! In an interview, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha just said they're planning to bring multitouch to a majority of their upcoming devices. To quote:

I think you will see us deliver multitouch in the majority of our devices going forward. There’s a complex set of factors, not all of them technical. But I think you’ll see us being proactive on multitouch because the user feedback on multitouch is very good.

Andy Rubin, in response to a question regarding the lack of multitouch on US Google Experience Android devices, namely the Droid and Nexus One:

“It’s not an America versus outside America kind of thing. It’s a decision that is a result of the OEM model. I personally don’t like two-handed operations… there is no conspiracy.”

This is getting quite ridiculous Google. Word on the street is that the European Nexus One will have multitouch--yes the feature that we have begged and begged for since Android launched to no avail. The Nexus One on Germany's Heise has already been shown off with the wonderful pinch to zoom and gestures and we can probably assume Vodafone's Nexus One will have the same.

iPhone-like multitouch on the G1 - sound crazy or impossible? It was previously discussed right here at Android Central, and once again, thanks to RyeBrye.com, there is now a proof-of-concept video. The video demonstrates that multitouch on the G1 and on the Android OS is not just a pipe dream, but can be a reality.
