Casey Chan News Monday, 18 January 2010

Looking good always come with a price. The Motorola Droid just got its good ol' fashioned iSuppli bill of materials list and the total came out to $179.11 per device. Which is ever so slightly more expensive than the $174.15 bill of materials for the Nexus One. A little bit surprising right?

There's a good amount of pricy hardware in the Droid, for...

Casey Chan Featured Thursday, 29 October 2009

One of the biggest selling points of the Motorola DROID is that it'll be on the Verizon network. We've all seen Verizon commercials--America's most reliable network, can you hear me now?, there's a map for that--Big Red likes to market themselves as being everywhere. And most Verizon customers we run into seem to be more than satisfied with their network's reception. The one sticking point with Verizon? Price.

As prices for unlimited voice+messaging+data plans are...

We're not sure how new (or old) this is but Wal-Mart is reportedly selling the T-Mobile G1 at a discounted $98.88 with 2-year contract. This is a pretty solid deal considering the retail for G1s are $179.99. But if you're not a Wal-Mart fan, Amazon still has the best deal in town, offering the G1 for $97.99.

Anyone still in the market for the T-Mobile G1? Or is everyone now...

The G1 is Worth $143.89 in Parts

Casey Chan News Thursday, 12 March 2009

The good guys at iSuppli have figured out the Bill of Materials cost for the T-Mobile G1 and place it at approximately $143.89. They used a virtual teardown method which is presumably easier than a physical teardown (which they've yet to do) and the overall price takes no account for software, research & development, manufacturing, and accessories costs.
