We're just sitting down for a little more intimate time with the LG Optimus G here in Seoul, South Korea. And that means a couple things. For one, it means pictures that don't suck as much. For another, we're getting a better feel for the phone and the new user experience that LG's celebrating.
A few quick, initial thoughts, with the caveat that these are preproduction units:
For one, this...
Monster of a flagship smartphone hits Korea next week, rest of the world to come
LG today officially launched the Optimus G, its newest flagship Android smartphone with specs that, on paper, should send even the most jaded smartphone nerd into a bit of a frenzy. It'll be available in Korea as of next week, with announcements for the rest of the world to come later. Let's recap, shall we?...
We're live from Seoul, South Korea, where we've gotten our first look at the Optimus G, the newest flagship Android smartphone from manufacturer LG.
For as important as the hardware is to LG -- 4.7-inch True HD IPS display in a ridiculously thin form factor, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor at 1.5GHz and a 13 MP camera -- it's the user interface that LG seems to be particularly...
LG this morning announced that it's bringing the Optimus True HD LTE to the Middle East, starting with Saudi Arabia. Here in the States, we know the Optimus True HD LTE as the LG Nitro HD, with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8MP camera, and of course the 4.5-inch IPS HD display at 1280 x 720 resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is all of, what, four months old, but we're already starting to laugh our asses off see rumors regarding a possible successor. The Korea Times, citing unnamed "company officials" and "local parts suppliers," says we'll see the Galaxy S4 unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February, with it hitting shelves by the end of March
Oh, and they say it'll be...
The Verizon Galaxy S3 is slated to get s software update that will bring bug fixes along with Verizon "remote diagnostics" application that will let the carrier fix your phone from afar should you break something. (Not that any of our readers would ever do that.) No, it's not Jelly Bean, yet. You'll still have to wait a little while for that one, and, no, we don't know how long. (But being that...
For you folks down here in my neck of the woods on SouthernLINC (represent!), you've got a new Android smartphone coming your way in November. According to this screen shot, you'll have the Motorola XT626 to look forward to in a couple months. It looks like SouthernLINC will be positioning it as a cousin to the Titanium, though it'll obviously be missing the QWERTY keyboard. It'll launch with...
It’s been just over a year since Motorola took the wraps off of the Droid RAZR, the device the company was counting on to keep it competitive. And with an intense push by Verizon, the RAZR managed to hold its ground in 2012 against blockbuster competitors such as Samsung’s Galaxy line and HTC’s One series. And with its follow up RAZR Maxx, Motorola managed to finally break away from the pack...
If you're trucking through an airport or are near one of the any other 4,000-some Boingo Wifi hotspots, you'll be able to connect for free through September, thanks to the fine folks at Google Play. But only if you're using an Android device, or a Mac or PC. iPhones and the like are excluded from this promotion, Boingo confirmed to Android Central.
On the other hand, it's Google...
We're here in New York where LG today invited the press to take its first look at the Intuition, the much anticipated hybrid device that arrived in Verizon Wireless stores today. The Intuition is nearly identical to the international Optimus Vu, which has made quite a name for itself as a unique competitor in the increasingly popular "phablet" market. Unlike Samsung's Note, the Intuition is...
Pop quiz: What's black and white and too cool for you? If you answered the two-toned Cushnie Et Ochs version of the HTC One X, you'd be right. It's part of Fashion Week here in New York, and we got a quick look at it at HTC's Frequencies II event.
There's not a lot to it that you don't see here. It's half black, half white, with a barely (but still) visible seam down the middle.
Nope, you can't...
