Reliance Jio finally opens up registrations for its 4G service

Reliance Jio's long-awaited 4G service is one step closer to a commercial launch. The carrier is now letting anyone register interest for its 4G network, and has commenced sales of Jio SIM cards at Reliance Digital stores. The caveat here is that you'll need to shell out for one of the vendor's LYF-branded phones as well, as the Jio SIM cards are currently locked to Reliance's phones.

Jio is also highlighting its digital content ecosystem, with a series of apps for streaming music, videos, magazines, and on-demand movies available exclusively for Jio subscribers on Android and iOS. Going through the vendor's offerings on Android, it isn't hard to see that its content ecosystem will be the differentiator for Jio's 4G service.
