Polycarbonate HTC One E8 launches in India alongside the affordable Desire 616

The HTC one E8 has officially launched in India with a price tag of Rs 34,900 (or $580). The device is an interesting Android smartphone since it's not made of metal, but polycarbonate. The One E8 (essentially a more affordable version of the One M8) will be available for purchase from the end of July and comes packing dual-SIM support.

To recap on the specifications, the HTC device is powered by a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, has 2GB RAM to power all your favorite apps, 16GB of internal storage for music and media files (with microSD expansion) and a 5-inch HD display with dual stereo speakers to boot. Oddly enough, HTC opted to replace the "UltraPixel" shooter on the M8 with a 13MP camera for the E8.

Software wise, the E8 runs Android 4.4 KitKat with the familiar Sense 6 UI. Four colored variants will be available: polar white, electric crimson, maldives blue and misty grey.

HTC Desire 616

As well as the One E8, HTC also launched the mid-range Desire 616 in India for Rs. 16,900 (or $280). The Desire 616 is available this week.
