Plants vs. Zombies 2 has had another content update, continuing on the original Dark Ages update we saw back at E3. Dark Ages Part 2 introduces a new boss battle, a new Arthurian challenge, two new plants (magnetshroom and peanut), 10 new levels, and both a wizard zombie and a king zombie who are bound to make your life difficult.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 continues to offer a rich and (mostly) balanced take at freemium strategy. Players have to pick a selection of plants, gather sunlight, and find just the right time to drop super-powering plant food on their defensive lines. There are also gesture-based power ups if you need a hand with the particularly tough stages. Other stages will drag you out to the far future, the pirate seas, and other exotic eras where the zombies get to dress up all fancy-like.

How far into Plants vs. Zombies 2 are you? How did you find Part 1 of the Dark Ages content?

Balanced my ass. This game is the perfect example of how IAP have ruined mobile games. I'd rather buy the game and have balanced gameplay like PvZ 1

+ 1 million and two. I understand these guys need to have revenue coming in but this game has been ruined by IAP just like Fieldrunners 2. I deleted it about a month after. Just a complete waste of money after awhile. The game is fun until it's quickly not. People say you can pass this game without IAP. Please post a video showing the completion of this game without having to purchase anything.

There are a few stages where i would agree, finishing it without powerups is impossible.

However you do gain powerups from time to time and from the endless zones, and if you play it well you will have enough coins to buy it. So it's not completely unreasonable.

I buy the IAP plants because they are tons of fun and adds new strategies to the game (power lily + imitater + power tile + wintermelon = high cost, but total ownage). I only buy them when they're on discount. I bought the extra plant slot as well. I never bought gems or coins.

I dont use the powerups unless I'm really stumped, and I have 150.000 coins from just playing (never bought any coins) so I can use them for free when I need to (although it feels like cheating, so I dont usually do)

I played the game until dark ages level 10 (all worlds completed and I also have one unlock key)

PvZ2 isn't difficult at all except those levels where game gives us plants instead of we choosing them.

Field runners 2 is far more difficult IMO.

I didn't purchase any plants or coins.

Endless levels are awesome , I reached level 15 and couldn't get past it. In those , I agree that power ups are needed.

People often forget Zen garden which offers plants with full powers.

I have like 180 plant seeds and many slots.

There is no need of any extra plants (those IAP plants) , whatever plants given are very awesome and powerful.

Coins also come very fast in endless levels.

Edit : Just a few hours back , I played a dark ages level (which came after this update) without any sunflower plants ! Also I didn't use any mushrooms.

I used that sun bean plant with charged-up capability (from zen garden).

You can pass the stages without iap u just need to be patient. My only complaint there is a nasty bug in dead man's booty the level won't clear even if the zombies are wiped out hope they fix it
