Pioneer launches new Android Auto-compatible head units, starting at $700

These new systems, which first debuted at CES 2015, offer integration not only with Android Auto, but Apple's CarPlay. They also come with Pioneer's AppRadio, which connects to both iOS and Android devices, either over Bluetooth or a wired connection. There are five new units in total, three of which are compatible with Android Auto, according to Pioneer:

The 2015 NEX line includes the AVIC-8100NEX, AVIC-7100NEX and AVH-4100NEX, the first products to offer consumers both Android™ Auto and Apple CarPlay™ connectivity to provide maximum smartphone connectivity flexibility.

Android Auto allows you to connect your Android device to your car, using it for in-car music-phone calls, navigation, and more. Using Android Auto requires Android 5.0 Lollipop, as well as the recently-released Android Auto app.

The receivers start at $700 for the AVH-4100NEX, which started shipping last week, and go all the way up to $1,400 for the AVIC-8100NEX. All five units are available now from authorized Pioneer retailers.
