NVIDIA has started rolling out an update to its Shield Tablet, bringing along a fix for the Stagefright exploit, along with some general optimizations and performance improvements. The update clocks in at version number 3.1.1, and here's the full breakdown of what it entails:

  • Security patch for Stagefright
  • Stability and performance improvements
  • System wide optimizations and fixes, including battery performance and Netflix playback
  • SHIELD Wireless Controller Firmware update

While NVIDIA is a bit behind the curve with getting a Stagefright fix out the door, this is good news nonetheless. Once you update, you should notice your Shield Tablet to be a bit snappier, and don't forget to connect your Shield Wireless Controller to snag the firmware update that's also tagging along.
