GS4 Mini

Kitkat updates galore are rolling out today. New software is hitting the Verizon Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 Mini, as well as the Sprint Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega 6.3. These are OTA updates and bring along all the new goodies within Kitkat including "Ok Google", unlimited home screens, immersive mode, UI changes and much more.

If you own one of these devices on either carrier, you can head to Settings > About phone > Software updates to see if you're ready to go, if not, you'll have to just wait it out. The updates just popped up today, so it may be a bit before you see it on your device.

Using any of these devices? Hit up the comments and let us know if you get your update!

If you free yourself from Verizon's shackles and get a Google Nexus 5, you could get Android updates on time, not months later.

You're trying to call Verizon the most "superior" network? Not everywhere. Here Verizon has their "XLTE" launched, and struggles to get 5 Mbps on my mother's iPhone 5S (which is XLTE capable, and is on Band 4.) And my AT&T S III enjoys 30+ Mbps downloads at any given point, and has coverage in northern Minnesota (where I live) where she doesn't. In Minneapolis, Sprint has the best network. I cannot stand when people act like Verizon is the king. Unless you've used all 4 carriers in every city across the U.S., don't base your opinions off of coverage maps that include their LTEiRA program, which has most of their rural coverage using regional carriers.

Where I live (Tennessee) my coverage is actually really good but can go to three bars of 3g in a hurry

Posted from my Nexus 7 2013 or Samsung galaxy S5

"everywhere" doesn't matter. "Where I need it" does. I'd love to spend less than I do on Verizon but I want at least some voice coverage inside my house, too.

Where we go with our delivery trucks in the metro area, Sprint does not have better coverage. It has suitable coverage but verizon works much better. Also, when you get to anywhere outside of a major city, they are not even close.

After doing a factory wipe on my fiancee's sg3 to make it faster, it seems I'll have to do it again with this update... Ugh.... Great timing! Or maybe I won't and get her the g3 once it comes out... Or maybe both!

The panda has spoken

So, I was hoping to root my Verizon S3 with Towelroot once I made it to KitKat. Now I'm seeing some reports on xda that Towelroot works on Verizon S3 4.3. If it will still work on 4.4, I guess I should update after the update. Any thoughts?

He never knows what he means. He links to an article that is talking about nothing but the Nexus line, but somehow that applies to these phones. How he is also talking about 4.4.3, which is not this update. Then on top of that he chooses a clickbait source.

it is pretty typical for him.

I REALLY had to re read this title a few times when it said VERIZON S3..... I pretty much gave up hope for my phone getting kitkat lol

And still no kit kat update for my Verizon note 3. Verizon rep told me the other day it got pulled. He's taken lots of calls for problems with it. Still nothing on wife s3 for updates.

I'm on the S4 and running 4.4.2. I'm still waiting for the newest update unless there won't be one beyond the 4.4.2 I have...

I can confirm that FoxFi still works. There is now an extra step but the app tells you exactly what /when to do it.

Just updated and only issue I see is notifications always vibrate no matter how you have them setup in the app. Really sucks!

Found the problem to be caused by the Postman SMS SPAM Blocker app. While they have so called "fixes" for KitKat incompatibilities, they apparently don't resolve the conflicts with KitKat. Uninstalled the app and everything is working as expected...

Found my 1st glitch. While charging on car with same griffin dual usb charger and samsung cable I always use I now get a red X and when I unplug it it says charging for about 30 seconds before it goes away. WTF

I found the same thing last night on my way home from work. It took about 30 seconds to recognize that it was plugged in and the the same when I unplugged it.
I was worried that I had messed up the usb port on the phone, but when I got home and plugged it into a wall charger everything performed normally.
Very strange.

About three weeks ago I went through with the new update. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and it did nothing but drain my battery even when I was not using my phone. I also noticed my data was being used up faster. I was very upset with the update so I did a factory reset which solved my problems. Well now I have a notification that constantly keeps poping up on my home screen that wants me to update it again. I refuse to update my phone after finally getting it back to normal. Does anyone know if there's any way to get rid of the notification? I already tried to force stop, but that only works for a few minutes. It won't go away. if anyone knows what I can do to get this update to go away then please let me know, thanks!
