HTC's handheld camera, the RE Camera, has won a design award at the 35th International Design Excellence awards ceremony. The camera beat out more than 1,700 other entrants to come out on top, and will be featured in the fall edition of Innovation, the annual yearbook of International Design Excellence Award winners.

The awards, which are conducted by the Industrial Designers Society of America, recognize excellence in product design from around the world. Claude Zellweger, Vice President of Design at HTC describes the RE as:

"We approached the design aesthetic with a view to deliver something which was stunning, simple and effective to use. Our solution was a unique cylindrical design which fits comfortably in your hand and instantly activates on pick up, allowing you to point and shoot moments with ease."

The HTC RE will also now be featured as part of a permanent collection at the Henry Ford Museum.
