Had the phone for three days. Spent almost 2 hours on the phone with tmobile tech support. I just did a factory reset on it, and I'm in like flynn. Thanks so much!!

Doesn't the fact that you can reset a locked G1 create a privacy issue? What if the phone is stolen? Then, the thief has access to private info on the phone, as well as, all the contact info. Why put a pattern lock on the phone if all a thief needs to do is look online to unlock a stolen phone? In addition to that info, the browser uses autofill to automatically give you the option to select something to insert in a text box. Example: What if a thief found out to unlock my phone on the internet, and is using my browser to shop, and it just so happens that the browser autofills the billing info with my credit card #, security code, etc? Again, does this not create a security or privacy issue?

thanks im in now but when i tried to put in my gmail account and password it says " there is a problem communicating with google servers.""this can be a temporary problem or your sim card may not be provishioned for data services. if it continues call costumer care." before i am stuck on the phone with customer care for hours can you help me one last time.

Thanks. Had the same problem and this solved my problem. However after doing this my maps no longer works. I worked fine before this factory reset.

My brother's G1 phone also have the same gmail lock problem and I did the same factory reset. Now his google map also does not work. Wifi and GPS is on but I cannot detect My Location. Help.

After updating, the device shows that it is on RC30. I am unsure if that is the latest firmware though. How would I check/update to the latest release? Its been 48 hours so far, and no automatic update has been initialized. I've turned on and off the device as well to see if it would trigger anything. Nada. The how to that you have on here to upgrade is to go to RC29. What about 31/32?

Thanks! I couldn't get Bluetooth to turn on no matter how many times I turned the G1 off and on again, so I figured I'd better try a soft reset, but I haven't had the G1 long enough to know how to do that, so I Googled "G1 reset" and yours was the first entry that appeared.

I need to unlock my phone but I am concerned about losing all of my downloaded apps. Can I avoid this?

If I do a hard reset, my T-Mobile which is unlocked, will it be locked to T-Mobile again, or will I still be able to use another sim-card in this? Help will be much much appreciated...

My g1 froze and when I took off the back there was a few tiny specs of water on the inside. Now it wont turn on. Factory reset or soft reset do not work. Any suggestions from anyone would be very helpful. Thank you.

ok i have recently factory reset my phone, and i read up on it before i did so. so i knew to look in the "my downloads" to get my apps back, however some of my favorite apps will not re-download, they start to download and then it just says "download unsuccessfull", so i looked for the app on android market and its not there... i really want my app back can anyone help me with this and tell me how to get my app back

I have a g1 that was bought with t-Mobile, I was traveling and wanted the unlock code so they gave it to me now I in the caribbean and I I facroty restored my phone. Even though the phone is unlocked I caoont get back into the phone. It gets up to the screen that says, "signed in please slide back the phone to continue" and it just keep searching on that screen and nothing happens. will I ever be able to get my settings back so I can use my phone on another network?

hi, my boyfriend is out of the country and i havent been able to talk to him for a long time... he said i culd use his g1. but he forgot to tell me his password. so when he called me he just told me to turn off the phonee and press the home+end keys until a yellow triangle appeared and to press alt+ (some key) i dont remember.. he didnt talk for long that time.. and he did not give me his password.. so what can i do to unlock it?? help me please
