Deezer on Galaxy S5

One of the value added bonuses you're privileged to with the purchase of a new Samsung Galaxy S5 is 6-months free music courtesy of Deezer. Well, in countries Deezer is supported, in any case. But it's not immediately clear how you need to go about claiming this, especially since there's no pre-installed app or mention of it in Galaxy Gifts. So here's the run down.

The free subscription time does only apply to new accounts as you might expect. So, if you're already a subscriber and don't mind starting afresh, just set up a new account and you'll be good to go.

The good news is that claiming your free time is really simple. It doesn't matter whether you download the Deezer app from the Google Play Store or from Samsung Apps, either. When you fire Deezer up for the first time it recognizes that you're using a Galaxy S5 and immediately offers you the sign-up path to get your free 6-months.

Follow the steps as in the screenshots above and you'll be golden. You will need to enter your credit card information so that Deezer can automatically begin billing you after 6-months. So if you're not going to want to do that, be sure to set yourself a reminder to cancel your account before that time.

And that's all there is to it. The added beauty is that Deezer is cross-platform with apps also for iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone as well as web apps, a native Windows 8 app and a beta app for Mac. So sign up on your Galaxy S5 and get 6-months of free music on all of your devices.

I've used Deezer for a little while in recent months and the Android app is pretty good, and the selection of music on offer is excellent. Sadly, it's not available in the U.S. right now, but it is available in a good number of countries around the world. 6-months is plenty of music to listen to, so fire it up and give it a try!

Wut? Not available in 'Murica?!

I'm quite enjoying Google play music subscription. Is there any benefit of this over Google (just in case it does become available over here)?

The Windows Phone 8 app had me intrigued. That's one thing I wish Google Play Music had.

This isn't a free service, you're getting the full premium access for free for 6 months. So it's on par with something like Spotify.

Milk is a radio, where you have no real saying about what you're listening to. This is more like Google Play All Access.

I used Deezer once, a long, long time ago. But, back then a lot of the songs were 128kb/s mp3 on their service, even 64kb/s on some songs if I don't recollect it all wrong, so, when we finally got alternatives to them here in Ireland. I ended up not using Deezer anymore. :)

I actually tried signing up with them a couple of weeks ago just to see what's new, as they were running a "get 3 months for 99 cents" campaign around St. Paddy's day... But, for some inexplicable reason I wasn't able to sign up... "Not available in your region", and I live in Dublin.
