LG has announced that Toronto Raptors number six, point guard Cory Joseph, will be an official Canadian ambassador for the LG G5. Joseph will officially be switching to use a G5 going forward, and will appear in LG ads for the device, while also participating in social media activities for the company.
Joseph will evangelize the LG G5 throughout the 2016-2017 basketball season. In the announcement, Joseph praises the G5 as the "smartest smartphone" that he's used, in particular calling out the companion devices, such as the camera grip, as game changers.
LG introduces Canadian Pro Basketball star Cory Joseph as official ambassador of LG G5 smartphone
TORONTO, April 4, 2016 /CNW/ - Canada's own Cory Joseph, point guard for the Toronto Raptors, is the latest champion of the LG G5 smartphone, the award-winning device that wowed reviewers at its 2016 Mobile World Congress unveiling. Joseph officially switches to the LG G5 today and in addition to being the smoothest ball-handler among LG G5 users globally, he will spread his love of the device through a series of marketing and advertising initiatives through the 2016-2017 season.
The LG G5 is the company's first ever modular smartphone featuring a range of companion devices, one of which instantly transforms it into a digital camera with a real camera-like grip. The G5 also features the industry's only extreme wide angle lens, a DSLR-like manual mode and more. Plus, the added ability to swap out a depleted battery for a fully charged one in seconds, means users are never without power.
"It's impossible to use the LG G5 without being impressed," says Joseph. "It's the smartest smartphone I've ever used and it's really something I can get behind. The companion devices blew my mind and once you've experienced the back-up battery switch out – you'll never go back. It's a game changer."
As part of his Canadian LG G5 ambassadorship, Joseph will appear in LG ads that may include TV, radio, print, out-of-home, point of sale and digital advertising. He will also participate in social media integrations and personal appearances.
Key features of Canada's first modular smartphone include:
- An all-metal aluminum body
- Dual camera for standard lens use or 135 degree wide angle lens
- Expandable memory
- Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 capable
- Excellent battery life
"Cory Joseph is a Canadian success story," says Eunice Lee, Brand Manager – Mobile Communications at LG Electronics Canada. "As a high performance athlete, we thought Cory would be the ideal ambassador for such a high performance smartphone. Just like in basketball, having the competitive edge comes down to teamwork and we believe the LG G5 smartphone, plus the companion devices, empower consumers to outperform in work and in everyday life."
The eagerly anticipated LG G5 will be available in Canada on April 8, 2016 at all major carriers and retailers.
