Unannounced HTC smartwatch made a quiet cameo in official video

Update July 23: HTC says it's a watch, but not a product that's ever going to be released.

Say it isn't so! HTC may have leaked its smartwatch as early as July 9th as part of a design video highlighting how HTC makes great phones. The unannounced watch, which is shown in the company's official YouTube video, appears at around the 35-second mark and shows off a square watch face more akin to the competing LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live rather than than the radial face of Motorola's Moto 360.

Amazon Wallet for Android stores your gift and loyalty cards

Ahead of the availability of the Fire Phone, Amazon has launched its Google Wallet competitor for Android smartphones on to its Amazon App Store for Android as well as Google's Play store. Dubbed Amazon Wallet, the app offers some of the basics that Google Wallet offers, primarily the fact that it could be used to store your gift cards as well as loyalty and rewards cards. At this time, unlike Google Wallet, it doesn't look like Amazon Wallet is payment-ready.

Yahoo scoops up mobile analytics firm Flurry to strengthen their mobile products

Yahoo has been on a mission to strengthen their mobile products for a while now and to push that envelope even further, the company has now announced they'll be acquiring mobile analytics firm Flurry after having reached a definitive agreement. Flurry, was started in 2008 and today has reached over 170,000 developers across 1.4 billion devices monthly with their services being offered to pretty much every mobile operating system out there one way or another.

Android Wear source code uploaded to AOSP

In a message posted on the Android Building Google Group, Bill Yi has announced that GPL projects for the software running on both the Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch have been posted to the appropriate places in the Android source tree. Interested developers can find them under the tag android-4.4w_r1, and we're told that there are very few changes since the KitKat 2.2 maintenance release. As of now, we don't see any specific repos for the Gear Live or the G Watch, but some very important portions (such as /system/core) are available.

Earlier we got a little more information about the new enterprise features coming with Android L, courtesy of Samsung's contribution of portions of Knox. As consumers, it's not really the sort of thing we think about, at least not very often. But one of the bullet points really stood out to me, and I think it could be just the thing Google needs to build out their own piece of enterprise market share — managed intents.
