Managed intents could be Google's key to the enterprise market

Control over how sensitive files are shared could be big for Google's place in a BYOD world

Earlier we got a little more information about the new enterprise features coming with Android L, courtesy of Samsung's contribution of portions of Knox. As consumers, it's not really the sort of thing we think about, at least not very often. But one of the bullet points really stood out to me, and I think it could be just the thing Google needs to build out their own piece of enterprise market share — managed intents.

Read on to see why I think this is Google's foot in the door of the enterprise.

Samsung is teasing iPhone owners and their small screens by saying, in usual Samsung marketing lingo, that the next big thing is already here. Highlighting the 5.1-inch display of the Galaxy S5, Samsung is telling you that iPhone owners don't need to wait for the much rumored [iPhone 6](http://www.imore.com/iphone-6] that our friends at iMore are anxiously awaiting to get a better display.

Facebook's new save feature lets you get to that quiz later

10

Facebook will soon let you save your favorite things from Facebook. Not a local save, mind you, more of a Pocket for Facebook, and only in Facebook. With the save feature a tap or two will let you save a link, place, or bit of linked media (movie, TV show, or music) for later reference. Those hilarious (or incriminating) status updates and photos? You still can't save those — you'll still have to resort to a screenshot for that.

Google gives a few details on the enterprise management tools coming in Android L

25
Managed apps in the launcher

One of the less sexy but more important announcements at Google I/O last month was that Google is adopting part of Samsung's enterprise (as in corporate) security system into the L release of Android. The short version is that it'll be easier than ever to have your work data on your phone alongside your personal data, but the two will be secure and completely sandboxed. (You can get an early look at it now in the L Developer Preview, if you're so inclined.)

Today, Google and Samsung have dropped a little more info on exactly what's going on.

HTC One E8 versus M8: What's the difference?

49
HTC One E8 vs M8

The HTC One E8 is upon us, and we've got our hands on the lighter, polycarbonate version of HTC's flagship targeted at Russia, India and parts of Asia. As we've pointed out in our coverage so far, the E8 is essentially the internals of the HTC One M8 in a plastic case with a different camera. But beyond that there are actually quite a few smaller differences to get to grips with. For instance, only one has an IR blaster, and there are some LED flash differences too.

Check the table below for the full E8 vs M8 breakdown.

Samsung says that overheating not to blame for warped Galaxy Tab S back covers

19

A number of Samsung Galaxy Tab S users have been reporting that the backs of their devices were becoming deformed, which is apparently due to defective back covers. Yahoo Mail review

23

This week we're going to be taking a deep dive into some of Yahoo's Android apps. Sure, Google trounced them in search in the early days, but Yahoo has managed to stick through it with a couple of bruises.

As it turns out, Yahoo has some pretty great apps. First and foremost, Yahoo Mail delivers some extremely sharp visuals thanks in no small part to the strong theme support. While looking through the inbox and other e-mail views, the background is blurred out, but as soon as you pop into a menu, you get a striking wallpaper and assigns a complementary highlight color through the rest of the interface. A similar set-up is available on the web, but unfortunately the two don't sync. Besides that, the icon set is flat and minimal, just the way we like it, and transition animations are smooth.

If you're looking for a sweet deal with regards to using data abroad on this year's holiday, O2 may well have the right bundle price at just £2 a day. We've all been in that situation, looking at pricing and being stunned by just how expensive roaming can be, even when travelling within the EU.
