Acer today announced a new Chromebox line of products, perfect for education, small businesses and those who are seeking a sleek, yet affordable machine running Google's OS. The devices themselves have a super small footprint with a compact chassis to keep sizes to a minimum, while enabling users to either stand the computers upright or mount the units on the back of a supporting monitor. These new Chromeboxes start from $179.99 and will be available next month in the US and Canada.

Samsung has announced a new variant of the company's flagship smartphone for Singapore. The Galaxy S5 4G+ will launch on SingTel's new LTE-A network. Both the network itself and the new mobile device will launch on August 23 with the Android device available on multiple plans. Fragment comes from iOS to Android today with a particularly unique twist on photo editing. A wide range of shaped filters distort your photo along clean, sharp lines, lending a kaleidoscopic skew to your shots.

You can move and resize the fragment filter, change how it tweaks your image (such as by adding a hue, changing brightness, cranking saturation, or inverting colors). Once that's done, export the final product out to any major destination or feed it back into the app to apply another fragment on top.

LG bringing L Fino and L Bello to IFA, targeted at teens and emerging markets

LG L Bello and L Fino

LG has announced that it's bringing the L Fino and L Bello Android smartphones to the IFA conference in Berlin. These "powerful alternatives to higher-priced smartphones" are aimed for the teenage set and emerging 3G markets.

The phones are 4.5- and 5-inch models, for the L Fino and L Bello, respectively, skimping on on-board storage (4GB and 8GB totals) but bringing Android 4.4.2 and features like LG's excellent camera software (paired with 8-megapixel shooters), the Quick Circle case, KnockCode and more.

The LG L Fino and L Bello will first be released in Latin America, with countries in Europe, Asia, and CIS to follow.
