Massive battery, Kevlar or ballistic fiber, and available Oct. 30 starting at $199 on contract

And with that, the heavily leaked Motorola Droid Turbo is official. As we foretold, the Droid Ultra ramps things up from what we saw in the new Moto X. It keeps the 5.2-inch display, but cranks up the resolution to Quad-HD, or 2560 x 1440, and it improves on the internals, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. You'll find 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. And you'll find a huge 3,900 mAh battery (plus wireless charging), all tucked into a Kevlar-backed design, or a ballistic fiber, if you prefer.

Plus a 21-megapixel rear camera.

If the Moto X just didn't quite do it for you, well ...

Algoriddim's Djay 2 has arrived, and it is so much more than an iOS port

12

You'd think that in 2014, an app being ported from one platform to another wouldn't really be considered news anymore. Android an iOS are more than just app platforms nowadays, and if you're a serious developer it would be foolish to ignore either ecosystem. At the same time, building an app for one platform and releasing a lazy port for the other is just bad form. Recently I sat down with the folks at Algoriddim, and experienced what they feel is the start of a new generation of apps for Android.

Droid Turbo pops up on Verizon.com's testing page… seems all but official now

61

We've seen all sorts of leaks and teases and weird videos leading up to today's expected reveal of the Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo, but this morning Verizon's public website testing page let loose a "Coming soon: Droid Turbo" image. There's not much of anything about this banner we haven't learned before, mentioning the phone's "up to 48-hour battery life a 2.7 GHz quad-core processor." No price, no release date, just Droid. It links to the Droid countdown page, which leaves us with but a few hours until the expected public unveiling of the newest and most powerful Droid yet.
