Verizon's second quarter profits soar, highest recorded revenue in six quarters


Verizon has posted its second quarter earnings, which saw the carrier accruing a double-digit percentage increase in operating income and earnings per share. Over the course of the quarter, Verizon has managed to add 1.4 million new postpaid wireless subscribers, up from 941,000 over the same period last year.

Xiaomi unveils the Mi 4: Snapdragon 801, 5-inch FHD display for $320

Xiaomi Mi 4

Xiaomi unveiled its flagship device for the year, the Mi 4, at an event in China today. The Mi 4 features a metal frame and better hardware in the form of a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC. The device is also the first Xiaomi handset to offer LTE connectivity, and will be on sale later this month to the equivalent of $320 for the 16 GB model, and $400 for the 64 GB version.

Unannounced HTC smartwatch made a quiet cameo in official video


Say it isn't so! HTC may have leaked its smartwatch as early as July 9th as part of a design video highlighting how HTC makes great phones. The unannounced watch, which is shown in the company's official YouTube video, appears at around the 35-second mark and shows off a square watch face more akin to the competing LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live rather than than the radial face of Motorola's Moto 360.

Dubbed Amazon Wallet, the app offers some of the basics that Google Wallet offers, primarily the fact that it could be used to store your gift cards as well as loyalty and rewards cards. At this time, unlike Google Wallet, it doesn't look like Amazon Wallet is payment-ready.
