Moto 360 vs. the LG G Watch R!

107

Two Android Wear smartwatches, both alike in dignity. And shape. And from the first time we saw the Moto 360 compared to its square brethren, well, a good many of us knew that round was where it's at. But it turns out the Moto 360 isn't the only player in this space — LG's second Android Wear smartwatch — the LG G Watch R — also brings a round face, and a few other surprises.

We've already taken a pretty decent look at the G Watch R at the IFA conference in Berlin. A week later in Las Vegas, we got a chance to put it up against the Moto 360.

And you know what? It's not a bad fight.

Prepare to cringe at Samsung's latest Note 4 adverts poking fun at Apple

178

It's no secret that Samsung can get marketing just right, but often enough the tech giant has simply flopped in the past when it came to releasing promotional material for its products. The company has just released a batch of new adverts for the Galaxy Note 4, poking fun at Apple's recently announced iPhone 6 and Apple Watch. Nothing new here, but it's the cringe-worthy content that's contained within said adverts where everything changes.

What you need to know about the new Google Hangouts, Hangouts Dialer, and the old Google Voice

290
Messaging on Android

The new Hangouts is beautiful, and more than a little confusing now that it can integrate with Google Voice

Google Hangouts is getting a pretty major refresh, and it now integrates with Google Voice. And there's a new Hangouts Dialer to contend with if you want to use both together. If it's all just a wee bit confusing, we understand. Google Voice has never been much of a mainstream product, never mind that it's damned useful. And Hangouts as a means of mobile messaging sort of started as one of those Google+ features we were were force-fed at the beginning, again, never mind just how good it actually is.

And now it's all coming together. But it also can be more than a little confusing.

Here's the deal, as we understand it, in plain English.

Don't try to force a strap that's too thick onto your Moto 360

39
OH THE CARNAGE

If you try to force a strap that's too thick onto your Moto 360, you're gonna have a bad time

Yikes. What you see up there is my absolute favorite padded ostrich watch strap. It's the right size to fit the Moto 360 (that'd be 22mm, same as the LG G Watch), and I've been thinking of how good it would look once I got it on there. I figured I could squeeze it under the circular lip when I saw it was just too thick. The leather backing did not agree with me ...

The strap on the Moto 360 is easy enough to change. You do it like any other watch, whether it be Android Wear, or Pebble, or Timex. It uses the same spring bars many of us are familiar with, and the process is fairly simple. But you will need to make sure the strap you want to use is thin enough to fit under the little lip on the circular back cover.
