As the Samsung Galaxy Tab nears launch here in the U.S., one question still looms: will there be a WiFi-only version? We have heard rumors on both sides, but the affirmative side just got a big boost as it appears a WiFi-only version passed through the FCC.

The device has been known as the GT-P1010 and quietly received approval. This is great news for consumers who want the Galaxy Tab but don't want to be tied to a specific carrier. No release date or pricing details yet, but we'll update you when we find out. [FCC via IntoMobile]

Over at the official Android Central Facebook page, users have been listing the apps they most want to see come to Android. Hulu and Netflix are the two near-universal choices, with a smattering of games thrown in for good measure. We know Netflix is working on an app, but Hulu has been mum. Netflix hasn't given anything more than a vague hint, leaving Android media streaming lovers out in the cold. People have even resorted to using third party solutions to get their Hulu fix on. Seems like one of these things is popping up every day, doesn't it?  But this time, it's the carrier itself doing the prodding.

In an attempt to better understand what their customers want, Sprint has put up a poll in the Sprint Community section of their website.  Who knows how important the results are, but Sprint is asking their subscribers "Which platform do YOU think we should focus on?"

As I'm writing this article, HP webOS is enjoying a massive lead over Android, BlackBerry, and "Windows 7" (though I'm sure they mean Windows Phone 7).

Before you mosey on over and start voting, you should know that this poll is only open to Sprint customers.  So if you're on the Now Network, head on over and cast your vote.

Here we go again, folks. The Android Market seems to have taken a bit of a header this afternoon. We've gotten apps to download find on some devices, and not so fine on others, so maybe the worst is behind us. What say you all?

Update: The AndroidDev Twitter account reports that everything should be fine now. The whole thing started about noon Pacific time and "lasted a few hours."

We're not sure we'd call this an actual hands-on, per se, but Gizmodo says "a friend of ours" got to play with an upcoming Samsung device that will be the Nexus Two, or Nexus S, or whatever the darn thing ends up being called. From what Giz's friend says, it pretty much sounds like a Galaxy S device with a front-facing camera and a slightly different, more curved shell. We'll just have to see, won't we.

It appears that there may be a cameraless version of the Motorola Droid Pro available in the near future. This would be aimed at the often overlooked but large group of workers who are unable to sport a camera on their phones due to security concerns. As cameras have continued to evolve and improve in the mobile space, there are lots of jobs that unfortunately don't allow those technologies to be enjoyed. It doesn't mean they should have to settle for a less capable phone though.

It's good to see Motorola and Verizon catering at the market that has been dominated so heavily by RIM and Microsoft.

A device called the Dell Venue has appeared at the FCC. A few days ago, we reported that Dell was possibly going to release an Android version of the Venue Pro that was recently announced for the Windows Phone 7 platform.  This looks to be confirmed with a slight difference as the device is dropping the "Pro" from its name. 

We don't know too much about the Venue, but expect it to be very similar to its Windows Phone counterpart. Instead of a vertical slider however, this version will have a full touchscreen, that should be nice on the 4.1-inch Super-AMOLED screen. 

Good news for those of you who were a little jealous during Windows Phone 7 launch day. Let's hope Dell releases it with an updated version of the OS. [FCC via Engadget]
