Samsung Galaxy S II coming soon to Canada

14

We've heard rumors aplenty about the Samsung Galaxy S II coming to Canada in the past. In fact, Samsung themselves have stated it would be coming soon, but they never mentioned as to when, exactly or to what carrier it going once released. The latest info is suggesting an early Q3 release but most recently Samsung Canada has updated their Galaxy S II site to once again reflect the "coming soon" sentiment. If we had to take a stab in the dark we'd say it's likely we'll see a variation of the device on Rogers, Bell and TELUS with likely Bell and TELUS getting dibs on the initial release. But we'll just have to wait and see how this all pans out for Samsung. Stay tuned!

Sprint announces the Motorola Photon

38

Sprint today in New York City announced the long-rumored Motorola Photon. The 4.3-inch Android smartphone runs Gingerbread, sports an 8MP camera on the back, VGA camera on the front, mobile hotspot and Wimax. Under the hood, it's got a dual-core Tegra 2 processor.

It's Motorola's first 4G phone, beating out the delayed Droid Bionic on Verizon.

It's got 16GB of on-board storage, and you can add up to a 32GB microSD card for up to 48GB of storage. On top of that, it's a world phone, so you'll be able to use it on 3G GSM networks outside the United States. The Photon also sports a 1700mAh battery.

Full press release is after the break.

HTC EVO 4G case review: Seidio CONVERT Combo

12

When I look at the Seidio CONVERT Combo for the HTC EVO 4G, I think it's definitely for the most rough-and-tumble of Android users out there. This is for the types who need to check their email while scaling a mountainside, the people who send a text while skydiving, or those prone to dropping their phones on the ground (a lot). Or not.

Let's check it out, after the break.

Samsung Dart to hit T-Mobile on June 15

3

For those people looking for a good, mid-level Android device to start them on their Android journey, the Samsung Dart is right around the corner. It's sporting a 3MP camera, an included 2GB microSD card, and comes with Swype preinstalled.

For those who think the HTC Sensation might be a bit too much phone for them, the Dart might be the way to go.

Android Central theme review: Synergy for CyanogenMod 7

16

This week we wanted to cover a slick theme for devices running CyanogenMod 7.  Synergy is a theme built using the T-Mobile Theme Engine, a nifty piece of software that allows you to quickly change the feel of your device without having to flash something through recovery.  Instead, themes can be found in the market and downloaded like any other application.  There are dozens of themes available, but Synergy is quickly becoming a staff favorite.

Want to write a ROM review for Android Central? We'd love to hear from you! Look here for details. Now head past the break for the review.
