Check out the new wallpapers from Lollipop

14
These are the wallpapers of Lollipop

With Android 5.0 Lollipop we got a whole new design for Android, and that means that we're getting a whole new set of wallpapers. Google's gone for a more natural look for a lot of the selection, but there's some abstract stuff in there too.

Google updates Material Design guidelines

18
Material Design Guidelines

Along with the new Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK and preview images — again, folks, preview — Google today has updated its Material Design guidelines, the roadmap for making everything look snazzy in this new version of Android. App developers definitely will want to take a look at this one, as a good bit's changed since it was first introduced this summer.

New in this update — and Google's clearly calling this a "living document," so expect more changes at some point — are sticker sheets in formats for Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Sketch, an new icon library, new color swatches, new whiteframe downloads, new system icons and more.

If you're getting your apps updated with the new guidelines, check this out first, for sure.

Android Lollipop contains Flappy Bird Easter egg!

37
Flappy Bird Easter egg in Android Lollipop

With each new version of Android comes a new "Easter egg" animation hidden away in the Settings app. In KitKat it was the dessert tray animation. In the Android L preview it was a reference to the obscure "webdriver torso" YouTube mystery. For the latest version of Lollipop (or at least as we see it in the latest October developer preview) Google's taken things a step further. There's a fully-featured clone of the Flappy Bird game hiding behind the Android version number under Settings > About phone.

Tap a bunch of times on the Android version numbers, then long-press one the giant lollipop that appears to launch into the game. We don't yet know if anything special happens if you progress past a certain point — we've only just managed two points so far. Either way, it's a worthy addition to Google's long line of Android easter eggs.

Updated Android 5.0 Lollipop developer preview available for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7

72
Lollipop Nexus 5

As promised, Google has just published an updated set of preview images for Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013). The new developer preview is based on build lpx13d.

The first "Android L" developer preview arrived shortly after Google I/O, and was updated in early August with Google Fit support (and little else). It's unclear how much new stuff is in these latest preview images, but with just a couple of weeks left until the new Nexus devices start shipping, we're hoping for a more complete look at the next version of Android.

Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK now available

4

Following Lollipop's unveiling earlier this week, Google has today taken the wraps off the Android 5.0 SDK, allowing developers to start getting apps ready for the final version of the upcoming OS. Lollipop is a huge release for developers, with more than 5000 new APIs, the new Material Design visual style and new power-saving and enterprise features to get to grips with. And while the first Android 5.0 devices aren't expected for another couple of weeks, the arrival of the SDK will allow devs to make sure everything's working perfectly when the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 eventually launch.

Samsung has launched a new Intel-powered Chromebook. Samsung's own Chromebook 2 launched earlier this year running on the Exynos chipset.
