HTC Thunderbolt dummy phones arrive, but it looks like the phone is delayed

16

The good news: It looks like dummy units -- nonworking shells, really -- of the eagerly awaited HTC ThunderBolt are starting to show up. The bad news: Looks like the phone's going to miss that officially non-official Feb. 14 launch date.

Let's start with the picture you see above, which is of said dummy unit. That's a pretty good sign that things are all but ready to go. Only problem is, things aren't ready to go. Droid-Life purloined a screen shot that flat-out says "launch from 2/14 has been delayed. No ETA at this time." It adds that "HTC-created elements WILL arrive this week. Agents are not to display ..."

In other words, things are pretty much ready to go, but something's holding up the works, and word around the campfire is that the new Skype Mobile has something to do with it. That said, Veizon's never publicly announced a launch date -- and now you see why.

Check out the leaked shot after the break if you need the knife to be twisted just a little more. [@v3rdict, Droid-Life via Android Central Forums]

Dell developing 10-inch Android Tablet (Updated)

9

We're here at the "Dell Means Business" press conference and while the main focus is business and the marquee product here is the hint of a Windows 7 tablet, Dell also has a nice little entry in their list above that a "10 inch Android Tablet" is on the way. It'll come inside the largest consumer product lineup that Dell has ever launched - 39 products in all (naturally they're mostly talking about Windows 7 devices).

More as we can get it - stay tuned.

Update: They just talked up the benefits of the Windows 7 products for power business users and showed a prototype of the Windows 7 Tablet (not the Android Tablet) after the break.

In other words - we'll see if Dell tells us more about that single line on the above PowerPoint slide, since today is more focused on traditional PCs and Windows 7 devices.

Honeycomb port coming to Dell Streak

3

Are you a Dell Streak owner who is rather bored with the current state of your lil' tablet? Well, it looks as though you may soon be able to toss a little Honeycomb into the mix. Yes, much like the Nook Color the Dell Streak now has a port of Honeycomb in the works for it. It is only fair to note though, the port is not complete as of yet. No downloads are available but the fact it is being worked on by Stephen Hyde, who has created the StreakDroid ROMS gives us hope it will see release at some point. Amazon says HTC ThunderBolt coming February 14

28

We're guessing Amazon was feeling a little left out of all the HTC Thunderbolt launch date rumors. Seriously, though, we've pretty much got every day in February covered at this point, so no matter when it comes out everyone can say they were right. In any event, if you stroll on over to Amazon and do a search you'll see they now have the device listed for February 14. You can sign up to be notified when it becomes available. One thing is for certain though, the HTC Thunderbolt is coming -- soon. [via BGR]

8

Although Huawei has yet to really break into the North American market, that hasn't stopped them from trying. Two new devices have now appeared on their Flickr account, and while the details are slim at this point, we do know they are indeed running Android and presumably set to appear at Mobile World Congress. The above is known as they Huawei IDEOS X3 and if you jump on past the break, you'll get a look at the IDEOS S7 Slim tablet. I'm guessing that is all we'll get till MWC for info. LG G-Slate's features, 3D and all, teased in rough teaser video

13

What appears to be a rough edit of a teaser video of the upcoming T-Mobile LG G-Slate has hit YouTube, just a week after T-Mobile dropped more details, showing off the basic features of the 8.9-inch Android tablet and giving us one of the better looks at the hardware thus far.

First and foremost, there's the 3D recording capability. We still have no clue how practical this will be, but there it is. You also get a good walkthrough on ports and buttons. Now all we need is some launch and pricing info. Check it out after the break. [Youtube via Engadget]
