Samsung's Galaxy Tab S tablets will allegedly come with a fingerprint scanner

Samsung's upcoming tablet series, the Galaxy Tab S, will allegedly feature a fingerprint scanner that is similar in functionality to the one used in the Galaxy S5. In addition to the fingerprint scanner, the tablets will come with a battery saver mode that debuted on the Samsung's latest flagship, called Ultra Power Saving Mode.

LG brought its new tablets to its G3 party

A couple of weeks ago, LG announced three new additions to the G Pad range – a 7-, 8- and a 10.1-inch offering. At the grand LG G3 Day showpiece event in London, the new tablets were on show and so we got chance to spend a little time taking a look at each of them.

The internal hardware is very much the same across all three, and with a Snapdragon 400 inside we're not looking at the absolute cutting edge in terms of hardware performance. There is a HD display on board – though not 1080p – Android 4.4 KitKat and some elements of LG's latest user interface, with some visual elements straight out of the G3.

This is image that's been posted onto the Google I/O 2014 website, and has been making the rounds today as Google somehow being dumb enough to accidentally leak an unannounced product in an official production. Just take a moment to note the placement of the front-facing speakers, the volume rocker at the bottom corner, and the gentle curve of the sides.

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is headed to Verizon, or so says serial tipster @evleaks. We've already had word directly from Sony that its latest tablet would be headed stateside – costing from $500 outright. There isn't any other information provided like when, or how much, but presumably it'll be coated with a giant Verizon logo and support for the carriers 4G LTE network.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is building 4,000 prototype tablets equipped with cameras and sensors that can map the world around them. The prototype is said to be a part of Google's Project Tango efforts.

If you're on Vodafone in the UK and are looking for a cheap tablet to get it done, the new Smart Tab 4 might just fit the bill. The 8-inch tablet (800x1280) sports a quad-core MTK8382 processor at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and a 2MP rear camera, with 0.3MP out front.

It's running Android 4.2.2 at launch, with an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat in the works.

T-Mobile has announced that they're going to start selling tablets at Walmart, which will include an initial lineup with the $179 Trio AXS and $229 HP Slate 7 HD. The AXS is a 7.85-inch Android tablet with 16 GB of storage, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, and 1 GB of RAM, while the HP Slate 7 HD has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a 7-inch 1280 x 800 display. The AXS is already on sale and the Slate 7 HD will be available in June.

Verizon offering a G Pad 8.3 with new FiOS orders

Newegg is selling the tablet on Ebay for $50 less than what it is available for on its own store.
