AC editors' apps of the week: Inbox, Today Calendar, Duet and more

38
apps of the week

The apps you're looking for

Nice mix of apps to look at this week! Whether you want to be productive, stay organized, jam out or even have a little fun in your downtime, there's something on this weeks list you'll want to have a look at.

This is also a good week to think about how far mobile apps have come in such a short time. Looking back at some of the first apps from 2008, then comparing the user interface and feature set to today's great apps is a stunner. Google is getting better at delivering the right tools, and the developers are getting better and making beautiful things with them.

And we get to enjoy the results.

Samsung S-View Flip Cover for the Galaxy Note 4

54
S-View Flip Cover for the Galaxy Note 4

Flip cases aren't for everyone, but if you're going that route this is the one to get

Putting together a Samsung phone and an S-View case is like combining peanut butter and jelly — they're just meant to be together. If Samsung didn't make such a pretty penny selling these cases there'd probably be one in every phone box, because they really do work well in conjunction with Samsung's phones. The latest S-View case and the Galaxy Note 4 are no exception.

You get your choice of colors to spice up your Note 4, and in any case you get a little extra grip, complete screen protection and a few cool features if you're willing to put up with the extra bulk. Read along and check out our full review of the new S-View Flip Cover for the Galaxy Note 4.

Sandra Bullock's 'Gravity' floats onto some folks' phones for free

159

Others seeing 'Shuan the Sheep' — also good, but with less outer space stuff

If you've been always meaning to watch the Oscar-winning "Gravity" but just never got around to it — or if you just weren't in a rush to spend money on wonky acts of physics — now might be your chance to catch the otherwise spectacular space flick for free. A number of folks this weekend are seeing "Gravity" appear in their Google Play Movies "Watch Now" queue for free, with Google saying "This one's on us."

You don't actually have to add it to your library if you don't want to (take note, Apple and U2). But it's a free movie, and a fun one at that. Give it a watch if you haven't already.

Verizon's Motorola Droid Turbo leaks its full retail form

81
Motorola Droid Turbo

We've already seen much of what's to come in the Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo thanks to some marketing leaks (you can see the full Droid Turbo specs as we currently know them), but this weekend we're getting one of our best looks at the upcoming phone in proper physical form thanks to Motofirmware — and in its full retail duds at that.

Along with a great look at the phone itself, we get confirmation that it'll ship with the Motorola Turbo Charger, which quickly gets a dead phone to a partial charge.

The Droid Landing countdown ends on Tuesday. We're in New York City on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

From the Editor's Desk: Together, not the same ...

67
Mia and Isa

Saturday mornings at my house (providing that I'm not on the road) usually go something like this: I wake up way too early for a weekend. I enjoy, oh, maybe an hour of quiet time with a cup of coffee, a bit of music (turned way the hell down) and some reading. Not Android. Not work. Just reading.

At some point a kid wakes up. Doesn't matter which one. And as soon as soon as that happens, Dad Mode has to kick in. (Lest we wake the sleeping Maternal Unit I left behind in the bedroom to grab whatever extra time she can after elbowing my snoring face all night. But that's another story.)

But this Saturday, I had a plan.
