We're expecting the Motorola Cliq XT (see our hands-on and video hands-on from Mobile World Congress) on T-Mobile just about any time now (possibly March 10), and we're bringing you the first shots of it wearing its T-Mo branding. It's confirmed to have WiFi and is running Android 1.6 with MotoBLUR.

But one very cool trick that we somehow overlooked on the Cliq XT (aka the Quench outside the U.S., and the Zeppelin in its previous code name) is that the sides of the phone (outside the trackpad) pick up your touch as well, meaning you select apps and the like without using your thumb on the trackpad. Our tipster says that function ends about a third of the way up the device. Presumably, the Swype keyboard and doubleTwist apps are on board, too, given the recent deals with T-Mobile.

It's hardly shocking, but HTC's new Sense user interface (read our review here) has been ported onto the Motorola Droid. It's still a little buggy, but damned if its not the same ROM (more or less) that was ripped off the HTC Desire and thrust upon the Nexus One. So stay tuned to this project if you're dead set on putting HTC's buttery smooth UI on top of Moto's bludgeon-you-to-death hardware, as this one's got legs, people.

We've got some good news and some bad news about those waiting to receive Adobe Flash 10.1. The good news is that it's expected to be released on Android phones coming "mid year".  Now the bad news is that the HTC Hero will not be supported.

“The HTC Hero will not be supported [because] it does not have the correct Android OS version and its chipset is not powerful enough. We require a device an ARM v7 (Cortex) processor. Examples include the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets and TI OMAP3 series.”

We've seen Flash being shown off already on the Droid and the Nexus One.  We already knew this was coming, given that Flash is a processor hog even on desktop systems, but thank you for stating the obvious. [androinica]

Nope, Android fans, the T-Mobile G1 isn't getting the almighty Android 2.1 update (or 2.0 for that matter) just yet. Instead, you can look forward to one of those lovely "maintenance updates." This one, dubbed DMD64, promises to improve call performance. So if you're the type who loves radio updates (and who doesn't, really), make sure you have the required Android data plan, sit back and wait for it to roll in. [via TMoNews]

If you are one of the Nexus One owners who doesn't quite understand why the device has a trackball, but wish that it could at least add something cooler to the device, your prayers have been answered. The trackball can shine in colors other than white (Google showed that off at its launch event), but for whatever reason it's never been properly implemented.

Luckily, some extremely talented people of the modding community have been working hard on not only allowing the functionality of the other colors, but as well as working on modding the current live wallpapers. And even better, it's been added into the most recent CyanogenMod ROM for the Neuxs One, which was released today! Check out video the colored trackball in action after the break. [via Redmond Pie]

Hey there, everybody!  This week we’re going to talk about something everyone seems to forget  - system maintenance and clean-up.  Like any computer, our Android devices can get clogged with old info that builds up until performance starts to be affected.  Unlike a computer with Gigs of space, our device's storage space is limited so this can happen in a much shorter time span.  If your phone is starting to act a bit sluggish this might be the reason.  Freeing up some space and getting things back as they used to be isn’t hard at all once you know where to look for the clutter.  Drum roll, please ... We've known for a while that the Nexus One would be coming to Verizon. We just didn't know when. Well it seems that we have finally gotten a date. March 23 is the date that the much awaited Nexus One reportedly will be available. According to an anonymous source, speaking to NeoWin:

The Nexus One, originally released on T-Mobile in January, has passed FCC inspection for use on Verizon's CDMA network and according to a Google worker who wishes to remain anonymous it will be made available on March 23.

We don't know how much it's going to cost on the Verizon Network, but currently the Nexus one is selling for $529 unlocked, or $179 with a two year contract from T-mobile. [neowin]
