Adobe goes 3D with Flash Player 11, AIR 3, coming in October

12

Adobe's come quite a long way in a relatively short amount of time on Android -- just about every device released today has Flash Player or AIR on board, or it's one of the first apps you download. Adobe's just announced the next versions of its Flash Player and AIR frameworks, and things are going to get faster and become more immersive -- and they're going 3D.

Yes, the updated Adobe framework will allow for 3D Flash and AIR gaming, folks. And that's whether you're talking on a desktop computer, television or, in our case, Android smartphones. No more side-scrollers. We're talking console-quality gaming that Adobe says is 1,000 times faster than Flash Player 10 and AIR 2, and it can deliver a smooth 60 frames per second. (An added bonus is that Adobe AIR can be bundled with an Android application -- no more extra downloads.)

And that's just for the end user. There's tons more for developers, naturally. Check out these videos:

T-Mobile bound Galaxy Tab Plus poses for unofficial photoshoot

4

The back and forth that has kept Samsung's legal team busy clearly hasn't slowed down its design team, as tonight we're getting a first look at the T-Mobile bound Galaxy Tab Plus, yet another addition to Samsung's Galaxy tablet line. This 7-inch Honeycomb-powered follow up to the original Galaxy Tab isn't to be confused with the 7.7 inch model we saw at IFA: The Plus is noticeably heftier, likely the result of the internal 4G radio. No specs yet, nor a release date, and certainly no pricing, but sit tight. It looks to be a busy upcoming few months for Samsung, which they'll kick off on September 26 with the unveiling of the US version of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 in New York City. Hit the source link for a few more shots.

Motorola XOOM Android 3.2.1 OTA update slowly rolling out

14

We've recieved a few more tips about the Motorola XOOM WiFi and now, a 3G version receiving a mysterious 1.5MB OTA update that bumps the device up to software version HTK55D.

I've personally been checking for updates on my XOOM since early this morning with no love coming to my device. However, if you have a Motorola XOOM -- you might want to check for updates and see if you have one available while we poke around for some sort of change log. Also worth noting, MS -- who sent us the update image is running a 3G rooted with Tiamat's Moray ROM

Thanks, MS!

ESPN and Slacker launch customizable sports stations on Slacker Radio

2

I know plenty of people who listen to sports radio programs and one common thing I noticed between them all is that as soon as someone starts talking about something they don't like, they tend to get all fired up.  But what if you could customize your sports radio stations to however you like, so that you never really have to deal with the stuff you don't enjoy listening to?

That's exactly what ESPN and Slacker Radio have announced today. Slacker Radio Plus and Slacker Premium Radio subscribers now have unlimited access to the ESPN Radio integration, and the ability to create highly personalized, myESPN Radio sports stations based on favorite sports, teams or ESPN programs. If you're not yet a subscriber, you have free access to ESPN Radio but without all the extra bonus content.

In addition to the extra content being added, Slacker also updated their Android UI and optimized it to perform better across a range of devices. If you're looking for the full details, the press release is past the break for you all.

Hands-on with the HTC Rhyme

35

Fresh out of HTC's purplicious press conference this morning, we have our first look at the HTC Rhyme, which is hitting Verizon on Sept. 29. They might not be actively marketing it toward women, but make not mistake about it, they're marketing it toward women.

So you've got your basic 3.7-inch candybar form factor, with Android 2.3. But it's Gingerbread in name only -- the Rhyme is rocking a new version of HTC Sense, much like the myTouch line on T-Mobile has custom builds.

Check out our hands-on video and photo gallery after the break.

Possible 7-inch Motorola tablet shows up on blurrycam

7

Thats right folks, our old friend Mr Blurrycam is back in town and this week brings pictures of a Motorola Android tablet that could well be a 7-incher.

Thisismynext obtained the image that shows a much slimmer and sleeker design than the Xoom, and very barely shows the tablet running the Honeycomb camera app. The Motorola logo in the top left corner seems to point towards a possible portrait orientation, similar to that of the Acer Iconia A100

No official details, or specs were leaked with the image, so we'll just have to wait and see on this one.
