Motorola XT720 releases on Wind Mobile

8

Wind Mobile, a rather new Canadian based wireless carrier, has released the Motorola XT720, a high-end Android device. This phone has a 3.7-inch display with a resolution of 480x854, 512MB of on board memory, an 8MP camera and will launch running Android 2.1. We have seen that other carriers plan to launch this device with Android 2.2 so hopefully this device will see an update shortly after launch as well. So if you are on Wind, or looking to switch, and want yourself a feature loaded Android device, this could be the perfect choice for you. Check it out for yourself today and save $20, bringing the price down to $430. Thanks James! [Wind Mobile]

Manage your Android sound profiles better with RingLeader

31

Managing sound profiles on an Android device has been a struggle for me since first picking up a device. Having been used to being able to set different profiles for different occasions and having the ability to keep them saved on the device was something I was very used to, and going from that to a ring / vibrate set up was a big change. The hunt for a profile manager has been a tough one, many different applications have been tried, some which were complex to set up, some which didn't meet the needs. A new application, Ringleader, brings everything that is needed, and more to the table.

This application is extremely easy to set up and manage. Users will set up their system sounds right from within the application, and they can all be managed from one universal screen. Not only can you manage from one single screen, but you can set up various profiles for different areas such as a school profile, work profile, night time profile and more. The Pro version of Ringleader will offer a widget for easy switching as well as a Tasker plug-in to automate the switches. If you are looking for a simple yet effective way to manage your sound profiles on your Android device, this is a must have. For download information be sure to hit the jump.

eBay brings us the Motorola Flipout before AT&T even announces it

5

It seems as though the Motorola Flipout could be a little more alive then we thought last last week. While we still haven't even had an official announcement from AT&T about this device, it appears to have surfaced on eBay. Interesting thing about this auction is that the price, $388.88 is probably less then we will see the device for at full retail from AT&T, if it is released ever, so if you are interested in this device you don't want to miss this deal! T-Mobile G2 benchmark test [video]

53

We know some of you have been waiting on pre-ordering the T-Mobile G2 until you've seen a benchmark test. We also know, that some of you really don't like that fact the G2 sports a "mere" 800 MHz Qualcomm processor and not a 1 GHz processor. We promise, it's fast.

The G2, the successor of the original gangster, the G1, has gotten full benchmark treatment via Quadrant Standard. Click on after the break to see the full test in video form.

Sprint Hero update rolling out now

24

If you own an HTC Hero and you're tired of your GPS and dialer acting up, it's time to update your phone -- now. Software version 2.31.651.7 is hitting the phones as we speak, well, as we type. We got wind of this update coming through a few days ago. Oh, and remember -- this is not Froyo! Sprint already confirmed via Twitter, that the Hero will not be getting Froyo. Make sure your hitting that system update button in your settings if your still waiting on the software fix. Also, be sure to head on over to the Android Central Forums talk all about it. People are already receiving the update. One more pic after the break. Thanks, Zachary.

LG Optimus on T-Mobile to allow Wifi calling?

2

LG introduced two new devices to its Optimus lineup last week, the Optimus One and the Optimus Chic. They are both international devices that left those of us living in the United States feeling  a little left out. However, a phone simply called the Optimus seems to be headed to T-Mobile.

The picture resembles the Optimus One very closely. The specs aren't that far off either, but are adjusted just enough to make them separate.

Here are the rumored specs:

  • 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen
  • 3.2 MP camera
  • 1500 mAh battery
  • Android 2.2 (Froyo)
  • Portable hotspot
  • Ability to make calls using Wi-Fi

Huh what? We were just complaining about how T-Mobile hasn't brought UMA support to Android, and with the Optimus it looks like they have answered our cries. Maybe We've seen specs like this fall apart before.

But overall, an intriging device, especially if it is priced low upon release. [Tmonews]
