Is this the Rogers no contract pricing for Samsung Galaxy Tab?

10

While the Samsung Galaxy Tab is making its way across U.S. carriers right now, we're still waiting for Rogers in Canada to even really price the thing let alone, get it up on the website and in stores to sell. Many rumors have circulated surrounding the pricing but this has got to be the most extreme one I have read thus far. If the above image is in any way accurate then the no contract pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be set at $750 for Rogers and well, they've forced me to lose all concern I had in purchasing one. Black Friday deals from Best Buy all about Android

18

With Black Friday well on its way, a lot of retailers are gearing up to drop prices. Best Buy is no different and this year they've decided to layout Android devices, some for only $1. Keep in mind though, new contracts will still apply to the purchases. Devices available? Check the list by carriers:

Sprint:

  • Samsung Transform - $69.99 with 2 year contract
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab - $549.99
  • LG Optimus S (Charcoal and Purple) - $1 with 2 year contract

Verizon:

  • HTC Droid Incredible - $1 with 2 year contract
  • Samsung Fascinate - $1 with 2 year contract
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab -$549.99

Great time to pick up a new Android device if you've been waiting. Surely more ads will leak out as well, so that you may plot your plan of attack. Check for additional images after the break.  Thanks nate1dawgg and jblank0! [BFAds]

Droid X spotted in recent episode of 'Community'

17

One of our forum members snagged this shot of Annie (Alison Brie) of NBC's "Community" showing off a picture of her lost pen on her Droid X.  This is the latest sighting in a string of TV shows featuring our favorite green android.

Android is popping up all over the place lately.  Anyone want to guess where we'll see it next? (My money is on "The Event.")  [via Android Central Forums] Thanks, Glenn!

T-Mobile introduces new plans in time for the holidays

23

If you are a T-Mobile customer and have been looking at other carriers in hopes of being able to reduce monthly costs and get more out of your plan, look no further. Just in time for the holidays T-Mobile will be rolling out two new plans that are aimed towards heavy users, and are very competitive to other carriers. These new options are called The Even More Promotional Plans, and will include the following two options:

  • Even More Individual 1,500 Talk + Text + Web plan for $79.99/mo.
  • Even More Family Plan 3,000 Talk + Text + Web Plan for $149.99/mo.

These plans will include unlimited 4G data, unlimited T-Mobile to T-Mobile calling as well as unlimited text messages. Compared to the competition at these price points, T-Mobile offers nearly double the amount of minutes monthly for the same pricing. These plans will require a new two-year contract, but for those who rely on their devices heavily, these plans are well worth signing a contract for.

Froyo available to Desire users on Virgin finally

2

After a long wait, Virgin Media customers sporting the HTC Desire will now start to receive Android 2.2 (Froyo). The OTA update will be gradually pushed out, so if you don't receive it immediatly, give it time.

Here's the announcement:

HTC Desire Android 2.2 Froyo Released 11/11/10

Hi I can confirm that we’ve started sending out the Froyo update as of 9am this morning, however this is only for customers on our Virgin specific firmware (1.23.351.1). Customers on the original firmware (1.15.405.4) will need an update to the 1.23.351.1 firmware first before they can install the Froyo update, but we expect this should be available in the next few days. I’ll post another update here once it goes live.

This is an FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) update which means that you will be prompted to download the update on their handset. We strongly recommend that you use a Wi-Fi connection to download the update. You’ll be asked if you want to back up your handset first, and we recommend this as well.

It has been a long wait, but Virgin customers will now be able to enjoy Froyo in all it's yumminess. [via EuroDroid]
