LG Optimus Mach LU3000 to be available in South Korea soon

5

The LG Optimus Mach LU3000, another device in LG's Optimus Line, will hit the South Korean market soon.

The Mach represents a unique device because LG has teamed up with Ennio Morricone, the legendary composer, to record original music for the phone. Consumers can now enjoy music and theme songs from Morricone, something no other device can claim.

The Optimus Mach sports: Android 2.2 (Froyo), 1 GHz TI OMAP 3630 processor, HDMI-out, 5 MP camera, 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen.

It will be available in both black and white and will be released soon. See a video showing off the device after the break. [Press release (in Korean) via Unwiredview]

Root Explorer updated, brings some welcome features

21

If you're not using Root Explorer on your rooted Android phone or tablet, you should be.  It's an easy way to work with the files on your device, using a graphical interface that so many of us are used to.  To make a good thing even better, while updating things to work with Gingerbread (thanks to the release of the SDK), Speed Software has added a couple changes to make things even better -- support for the upload dialog in the Dropbox app, and displaying the correct icon for installed applications instead of the generic icon it has used until now. With these changes, Root Explorer is now the only file browser I need on my rooted phones, and is the best $3.95 I've ever spent.  There are a couple more screenshots, and a download link after the break.

Pantech P8000 clears FCC, ready for AT&T

7

Documents at the FCC show the Pantech P8000, with 850MHz and 1900MHz radio frequency bands, has been approved and can be made available for sale in the United States.  There's not much info out there about the P8000, but a quick look at the Bluetooth Special Interest Group website shows it's running Android, and has the code name "Moon."

Of course FCC certification is only one step in the process, so there's no telling if and when you'll see this on on the shelves at your local AT&T store.  I imagine we'll see this one in Q1 of 2011, as an entry-level phone in Google's plan for Android world-domination.  And we're fine with that. LG Optimus T source code released

1

Any developers fancy digging into some code? If so, LG has released the source code for the LG Optimus T for all you developers out there. Although this was noted last week in our forums, we were waiting to see if LG was actually going to make an update to it due to the fact the one posted doesn't actually build. If you're unsure of what that actually means, then you likely have no need to mess with it, and it's best to leave this up to the experts. But if you do fit into that expert category, you'll find the download available via the LG Open Source website. LGP509TN is the download you'll want to search for. [LG Thanks, Conan, for the reminder!

Motorola's Honeycomb tablet caught sporting Verizon logo in blurrycam shots

24

By now we've all seen the video and pics from when Andy Rubin hopped onstage showing off the Motorola, Honeycomb equipped tablet and we've gotten a glimpse of the device in a previous blurrycam photoshoot but this time around, it's been caught rocking a Verizon logo and all signs lead to the fact the previous specs noted for the device were indeed accurate. Those specs once again, in case you missed them:

  • 7-inch and 10-inch versions
  • 32GB storage
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 dual-core processor
  • Gyroscope
  • 1280x800 resolution
  • 5MP camera on the back, 2MP on the front.
  • microSD
  • HDMI out
  • Versions for UMTS, CDMA and LTE

Also noted from the pics is the fact it looks to be making use of micro-USB slot and a 3.5mm headphone socket. And seemingly, some contacts for a charging dock of sorts. Who's excited for this now? More pics can be found after the break. [Engadget]

More than 2 million LG Optimus Ones sold

21

LG quietly announced that the Optimus One line (see our review) has breached the two million sales mark, with sales in North America leading the way.  In mid-November, LG announced that the Optimus line had sold over one million units in its first 40 days, and just 20 days later they have sold over two million worldwide.  The breakdown:

  • North America: 1.3 million units sold
  • South Korea: 450,000 units sold
  • Europe: 200,000 units sold
  • Asia 50,000 units sold

It's a great handset for the price, it ships with Froyo and will be getting Gingerbread, and has quite the development community growing.  What's not to like? [LG (Korean) via Mobile Crunch]
