Free Android phone from RadioShack this weekend!

7

If you are on the hunt for a new Android device then maybe this weekend you'll want to check out the RadioShack Facebook page. Why? Well, this Saturday, November 6, RadioShack is giving its Facebook fans a free Android phone from AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile,  just for liking the brand on Facebook. The offer is good from November 6-9. Keep in mind, you'll need to print out a coupon and it's only for selected devices.

Devices available:

You'll also still be bound to those pesky two-year contracts as well but getting a device for free lessens the blow there. In addition to the free devices, RadioShack is also offering $10 off a $40 or more purchase and 20 percent off all accessories. [Facebook, Twitter] Thanks Sarah!

Lookator gives a whole new angle to viewing available Wi-Fi networks

7

While out and about, many of us search for available wireless networks to connect to, and Lookator gives you a whole new way to search. Viewing items on a map can be a bit confusing, especially if you are in an area that is loaded with buildings, but with the new view it is easy to tell.

After loading the free application, it will launch your phone's camera. Any available networks will be overlayed on the screen. The application will show you not only where the location is, but additionally the strength of the signal at that location so you are able to determine which you wish to select.

If you search for available networks while on the go, and want to be able to better determine where exactly the signal is coming from, this free application is a must-have for you. Video of it in action and download links are after the break. [via JK on the Run/Gigaom]

Rogers Dell Streak pricing revealed via leaked Q4 roadmap

0

It really hasn't been much of a secret that the Dell Streak is headed to Rogers. That said, one thing that really never was confirmed was the actual on contract -- off-contract pricing of the device upon its arrival. Now that the Rogers Q4 roadmap has leaked out we know that the Dell Streak will be $149.99 on a 3-year contract and $549.99 with no contract. Any Rogers customers planning on picking one up? Download link is after the break, or update in the Market.

AT&T Motorola Flipside, Bravo dummy units showing up at Costco

5

Looks like Motorola's latest are getting ready to launch on AT&T. The Costco dummy units you see above are of the Motorola Flipside (bottom) and Motorola Bravo, a couple of mid-level phones announced at at CTIA. We're assuming AT&T will continue its MO of locking these guys down to the Android Market, but remember, that's what the Android Sideload Wonder Machine is for. Thanks, Mac!

HTC Legend prepping for dessert -- gets ready for Froyo

4

Us Android users will never turn down a free dessert.  We've had cupcakes, donuts, eclairs, and now, as most of us are waiting for some warm Gingerbread, HTC Legend users can add a nice helping of Froyo to their menu.

HTC announced via its Facebook page that users with an unbranded HTC Legend can expect the update in the coming weeks.  However, due to the prolonged software approval process each carrier must administer, folks with a carrier branded phone will have to wait just a bit longer (per usual).

Nothing leaves us geeks more restless than the announcement of an imminent software update.  Evidenced by user Arnoldthepotter's thread in our forums almost two months ago, where he began the countdown to the HTC Legend Froyo update.  Well, Arnoldthepotter, if you're reading, your countdown just got a lot shorter.  [HTC Facebook]

Android Accessory Review: HTC A/V Cable for Droid Incredible [video]

30

The HTC AV Cable for Droid Incredible is a quick and easy way to display content from your phone onto a TV. The cable plugs into the DInc's microUSB slot on one end and has composite video plugs on the other (sorry, no HD here). The cable offers true mirroring, so anything displayed on your phone shows up on the TV. The plug itself is pretty small, and I had no issues with using it even though I have a case on my phone, but your mileage may vary. Join me past the break as I take a closer look, and be sure to check out the video demonstration and extra pictures!
